Got a lot of questions in my build thread concerning my Wildtrack roof bars when I first put them on last year. Thought I’d post a few pics of what I ended up doing with it and sort of give my review of the stuff that’s on it.
So my set-up is this:
1- Genuine (or so they said) rotw Ranger Wildtrack roof bars. Purchased on Ebay, comes from Thailand.
2- 59” Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars.
3- Rhino-Rack SX100 legs.
4- (2) Thule Hullavator (with fold-down function) Kayak/SUP carriers.
Quick review: First and foremost must say that even if I have a mismatch of components everything fits together perfectly! All manufacturers got their act together and made one standard for T-slot fittings ... get the hint Electric car manufacturers!! lol ... With a 3” lift kit and 34” tires the Thule Hullavator was a must-have. I tried a normal J-rack but at 6’ tall I was unable to put the kayak by myself on the cradle, was even difficult with 2 people. The spring assist is fantastic and puts almost no weight on the user (Thule says it takes 40lbs off the load). Put everything together myself (except for the Wildtrack bars which were installed by my Ford dealer) and was very easy, the crossbars took the longest to install because of all the measuring and adjusting involved to make sure they were evenly spaced.
The most disappointing part of my set-up might be the Wildtrack bars. They do the job (so far) but the fit and finish is sub-par: the plastic end-caps are a little loose and don’t fit like a “factory” accessory should. If you want to know more don’t hesitate to ask.
