We would pickup an old car hood at a salvage yard and tie it to a car. Rope had to be short so we didn't swing out too far. Sudden stops were a problem.

For a while some kids in our neighborhood took to jumping on the back of a city bus. Feet on the bumper hands holding on to the frame of the advertising sign on the back. I never did that one. Too many neighbors had my mothers phone number. " Your son is doing burnouts on our street again."

We would tie an aluminum saucer behind snowmobiles with a long rope. There was only one incident over the years when John hit a tree while being whipped around. He survived because of the 19 layers of clothes he was wearing to keep warm and proved that aluminum saucers were crash worthy

lol No one ever gave it a second thought either. My dad would smoke at the kitchen table and also in the car with all of us in there in the winter time with windows rolled up.

Then there was this. I remember many get togethers like this and it's surprising I don't have emphysema.

I could never leave well enough alone. One card, pfttt, I had the mod bug back then too.

Did anyone ever use water balloons for the same purpose? Filled with air of course. We would blow the balloon up just enough to tuck it into the spokes when tied to the frame.

No we never did that nor did I ever hear of it being done.

My first thought was that it was a melted one of these that we used to get as kids.

Too funny. Just the other day my wife and I were watching a tv show and there was a woman whose lips looked like that. I commented to her, "she looks like she's got those wax lips we used get as kids." ha ha!
