Has anyone used a recovery ring with soft shackle? How'd it go? Advice?

They work just fine and have the benefit of being much lighter weight than traditional snatch block with the trade off of a bit friction and not being mid line attachable. I just picked up a new one from Yankum Ropes that is pretty nice.

I actually just used mine over the weekend. I had a tree that was hollow that I need to saw down. I really don't like messing with hollow trees since they can be unpredictable. I attached a rope, ring to the tree and hooked up to the side by side and my BIL pulled while I sawed the tree. worked great.

those work well and are light to pack in the truck. however, the old school snatch blocks will work with nylon and steel cables.
