That's so true! In my younger days I was like f'it lets try it! Now I'm like, yeah I'm not sure that's a good idea. lol
Yep...if I ever get a winch installed it'll be for two things...1: look cool...2: pull someone else out of jam ?

I think you need to get the color matched traction knobby from ARB (your link), everything else is just a utility piece...:p

I've been looking into those too. Check out the Harbor Freight one below. I'm usually not a fan of their stuff but every review I've seen have nothing but good things to say about them. Sure the Warn are the best ones but for the money you cant beat these. Play you can use the 20% off coupon with them bringing it down to $480.

Buuuut, you can get them now and they'll work with the truck and transfer over to the Bronco...
That's the plan Stan. ;) With all the stuff I'm wanting to buy for it I figured I'd better start now.

Better get a damper spare while you're at it, never can tell and you can also start the new trend in "Recovery Emergency Parts"... for Bronco

Harbor fright no longer does coupons.
Well that stinks! I wonder if they just recently stopped this? I think the last time I was there was 2 years ago when I bought a new hose.

No coupons but they still run 20 or 30% off specials. Sign up for their email to get the specials.

Thanks KJ! I know they usually have good specials around holidays like Memorial Day etc...

Most reviews I saw talked about cracking in cold weather. That's the biggest problem I found so it was an easy call to buy them over maxtrax. I don't think a small crack will make the difference in them getting you out if a bind. I can buy a few sets for the cost of maxtrax. I'm not driving through Africa so if something catastrophic does happen to them on a trip, I can have them replaced by the next weekend
Guess I'll remove you from my invite list for the Ranger African trip then. Your loss?

Yep I am going with the hidden winch, 12K synthetic rope. I decided to get a Superwinch SX 12000 sr for the 7yr warranty and the 589 FAB mount.
I have seen guys in Corpus Christi use a winch and a sand anchor with greater success than boards.. Also those restaurant anti fatigue/anti slip mats split lengthwise work too. and they fit in the bed flat.
