EDIT: '22 XLT Tremor ordered 1/24/22

Hi all, new to the forum and Ford. I've been a Wrangler owner for nearly 10 years. Sold my Jeep 2 months ago and looking to get into a mid-size truck.

I'm leaning towards: Ranger XLT Tremor.

With the news about the redesign coming in the next year or so, is it worth to wait? Not in a position to wait but could. I'm sure we'll see a price increase as we see every year and what about the 1st model bugs?

So, going with a 2021. Anything to be aware of, pros or cons? Try to find one on a lot or order and wait 4 months?

Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Personally I would get the 2021 and wait a few years after the new gen is out. There is usually a few "bugs" when changing over and it can sometimes be a nightmare, just look at the new Bronco.

Not to say there can't be issues with this gen but most have been worked out by now and most now are just limited ones due to parts constraints. There's a dedicated section for the Tremor and everyone seems to love that package. I wish it was available when I bought mine as I would've definitely bought it.

Yeah my brother and his wife have a Bronco and they have a few frustrating bugs that come along with a new model of a vehicle.

On Ford's site, the Ranger is only showing 2021. When should we expect a 2022? Since the change is coming for the 2023s, we are still a ways off for them.

From what I've read you can use the '21 B&P for the '22's. Save the pdf and the dealer can quote you from that. I'm not sure when to expect the '22 B&P but you'd think it would've been out by now.

Has anyone actually verified when/if the 6g ranger is coming to america? There may be a chance you’ll be waiting for awhile if not.

Love the truck, but with gas prices im really happy i have a jetta still…. It’s basically 80$ a fillup. And i dont even go on many trips yet.

That's what I'm thinking, too long of a wait so going that route is out.

Owning a tremor, have put 16k miles on it since April. Driven it pretty much everywhere I can think. Mines a lariat, but I honestly don't feel like with all the prerequisites you need to even have the tremor, the lariat isn't worth the premium price over the xlt. That's subjective. Overall, I think it was a good send off into the new models for the north American market. Kind of the best of an older platform.

I priced out both XLT Tremor and Lariat Tremor and it's definitely a jump in price. I can't justify it, just wish XLT had a LED headlight option.

The current version is a great truck, so I wouldn’t worry about waiting. I have a well optioned XLT and have no complaints. I test drove an XLT and a Lariat and actually much preferred the XLT’s cloth seats, so you want to take a test drive in both. The only thing I initially missed was the keyless start/entry, only because I have another car that has it. But, after a few months it became a non issue for me.

Ford is gonna screw over everyone on the 6G Ranger just like they do on all hyped up new releases. You are better off getting a 5G Ranger at this point.

I'm coming from a 6-speed manual Jeep so the keyless start is not a big deal to me honestly. Keyless entry is an obvious must have and I'd drop the $200 for remote start as well.

As far as the seats, I'm going with Tremor package. Only thing I'll be slightly disappointed is no LED Headlights with XLT. But the bump in price from XLT to Lariat is more than I'd like to spend.

I have a 21 XLT, non tremor, but I am completely satisfied with my truck and the decision to buy it.

Is there any option that is a must have?

Basically at the moment, I'm looking at Tremor Package (definitely), Trailer Tow Package, Remote Start (definitely), Spray-In Bedliner, and Soft Folding Tonneau Cover.

Is it smarter to get the Trailer Package (hitch, etc), Bedliner, and tonneau cover aftermarket or knock out all at once from factory?

I would get the trailer package. Everything else you can get later and most likely a little cheaper. Plus, it gives us a chance to help you spend more of your money?
