Whatever they're paying you it ain't enough Dave. I was a group leader, than briefly a moderator on a bipolar spouses support group site about 15 years ago. My wonderful wife's bipolar disorder was raging, and I found some good support, but soon quit and left once I tried moderating. This group is pretty tame in comparison, but I see a lot of issues here that I'm sure require your attention. It takes a lot of energy and a special person to do your job.

All I wanna say is: thanks, I appreciate your efforts. Hopefully you can recharge and remain because you do a fantastic job. ???

Thanks Paul and everything done here is a combination from all of the staff. It's just most only see me on here more than the others but everyone works equally hard to keep this place from falling apart.

Someone else brought up the pay in a message to me. There is no pay, we all do this because we love this site, our Rangers and the members here. Now you know why I have to push dampers and 303 products so much. ?

this makes me wonder what if persons are banned and simply come back with a new "handle" and location, email etc?

You can but the mods and admins can still look at your IP address and ban you again.
There's ways around it with private VPN's and IP masking services but it's more trouble than it's worth unless you're simply unhinged and can't stay away.
I'm a mod on another Ranger board although my official title is "Forum Staff - Retired" since I stepped away from being an active mod in favor of helping run the Facebook page.

I'll be honest. I didn't read all 6 pages.

I helped run a pretty big forum some years ago. I 100% understand the behind-the-scenes that goes on and many miss. As well as getting a constant stream of PMs anytime someone was offended about anything.

I really hope you are back to stay and are not chased off by the shitty side of being a moderator.

You seem to really have a good grasp on what is sarcasm for fun and the being an asshole that some people think is ok because they hide behind a keyboard. This is 95% a good community and one hell of a source of information.

I just wish more would find the ignore button and put less stress on you.
Also, for those that talk shit about the ignore button. It has nothing to do with not being able to handle anything and everything to do with the fact I am not in high school anymore and people need to grow up. 100% none of those that have talked shit would say that to my face. Not being a keyboard warrior.. truth. If you don't like it. Good, ill simply ignore you too and never worry about you again.

Well my first question is who is RP?

Outside of that, I developed a busted social filter a long time ago, I assume when someone posts on a public forum, they are opening the door for opinion on whatever photo, topic, or otherwise they have voluntarily shared. If something is ugly to me, I say its ugly. Its not malicious, I just prefer to avoid head patting small talk.

All that to say this; I haven't been banned, so whomever RP is must be a master of his craft.

I think I got one warning for pointing out a product that a sponsor posted basically fell in the category of "a solution looking for a problem". I still don't agree that sponsors should get kid gloves, but they pay a bill I don't so meh. I don't condone it, but I understand.

Didn't read all the comments, but I can only imagine being an admin or moderator would take up a lot of time and effort and I don't mind saying thanks to the crew we have here. You guys all do a good job and while sometimes a member can be very entertaining in any given topic, they still gotta follow the forum rules. Otherwise you face the ban hammer. It's a story as old as time.

Dave and crew do a great job here, no doubt about it. Unfortunately, I've seen mods/admins at other boards (past and present) flagrantly abuse board rules, common sense rules, etc. and make up rules to the point of comedy.

I have no doubt many of these people are/were kids, just plain immature, or garden variety idiots. Very adult makeup here at 5g, experienced, many retired and so forth. The trolls/sock puppets truly stand out like a sore thumb.

At some point, the 5g will be a fading memory. Hoping we can reinvent ourselves into another useful messenger.

Sadly, I'm reminded of my upcoming 50th high school anniversary. I've never attended as the class was a complete mess, with so many passing through the years. Had a website at one time, moved to Facebook and now into oblivion. Thinking there won't even be a 50th reunion. Oh well, the memories.....
