Rear spring Crew Cab vs Super Cab

I am new to this forum but have been a Ranger owner since 1989. I am considering buying a new Ranger since my 02 FX4 is approaching the 300K miles which I originally intended to keep it. I spend a lot of time off-road and like what I see in the Tremor. Unfortunately, Ford does not build a Tremor in a Super Cab and that is what I want. It looks like if Ford does not build a Super Cab Tremor in the next couple years I will have to do it myself. I am only interested in the suspension part of the Tremor.

I know there is a Ford Performance kit that will get pretty close to the Tremor suspension but the rear spring are not included. I may have a source for rear springs from a Tremor, but I don't know if springs from a Crew Cab will fit a Super Cab. I looked up the part numbers of each in non Tremor models. They are the same except for the last letter. I am guessing they may just have different spring rates due to the different weights of the those to vehicles.

Does anyone know if the rear springs are interchangeable between the Crew Cab and Super Cab. I am not concerned about spring rate. I just want to know if they physically fit.

I usually load down pretty heavy when going off-road with supplies and gear. I also have a heavier shell on the back. So, a slightly stiffer spring could be to my advantage. I will most likely add air bags to the rear to help level the truck when loaded anyway.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you know just what you want. Maybe Benny @LevittownFordParts.com knows if there’s a difference other than the last letter of the part number. I mean, it’s not his job to know these kinds of things but he seems to have great insight into a lot of things related to the Ranger.

They will fit. As you can see here both cab versions shows the same spring being used

Benny, I will take your word for it. I looked closer at the inserted image and was not sure what I was reading. I take it the RAP is the Crew CAB? It confirmed the change in letter at the end is related to spring rate because the C is stated as heavy duty. Thanks for the help.

Now, I have heard rumors that the Super Cab with 6 ft bed may not be available in 2024. Then again I have heard that a 6 ft bed may be available on the Crew Cab, but that doesn't sound like a good combination for off-road. I guess I will just have to wait and see what is offered.

Sorry Gary I stand corrected here. Damn Ford catalog threw me for a loop again. After entering a VIN and then turning off all filters I can now see more options rather than simply going in by year make and model which makes no sense. Here is what I show now including the superseded part numbers

So this Indicates they are different and that Crew Cabs use a "C" suffix.

Benny, I am still not sure about what I am seeing. I don't know what the =>D and =>C mean, but they are different than the last letter in the part number. Is that the superseded letter? Of all the part numbers shown, the only difference is the last letter. I am guessing the Tremor rear spring has its own part number and is not listed.

So, if the => indicates superseded, then only the C and D suspensions can be ordered now. One thing I can decipher is all the Crew Cabs have heavy duty rear suspension if a RAP cab is a Super Cab.

I am still thinking the last letter is a designation for spring rate since C is called Heavy Duty in the last line. That last line does not call out which type of Cab it is for. It just states for model years 2021/2022. That may indicate there are some Rangers models other than Crew Cabs that have the Heavy Duty Suspension. That could be a hint that the only difference in the rear spring is the spring rate and they could be mechanically interchangeable between the Super Cab and Crew Cab.

It is possible the mounting hardware could different between the C and D rear springs.

So, I don't have a definitive "yes, they are interchangeable", but I am a little closer to feeling positive about being able to use Tremor rear springs on a Super Cab.

Yes those indicate a superseded # , For example KB3Z-5560-A has been superseded by KB3Z-5560-D

No, not all Crew cabs are HD. The HD is the Tremor spring. Take note of the "H" first letter in the part # as opposed to the "K"

Correct we do not have a definitive answer on any possible dimensional differences at this time.
