Good morning all,

I turned the rear Seat Occupancy Warning back on in my truck to remind me to get anything input in the backseat out (not my kid, she reminds me she is there).

When I leave the truck, I acknowledge the screen before getting out. Most times the display and dash than dim when I open the drivers door, like normal. On occasion the occupancy screen goes away and it goes to the normal audio display. I can change input, adjust volume etc.

Mind you this is with the key removed from the ignition.

If I cycle the key it turns off as expected.

It happens at times when I don't feel comfortable letting it sit to see if it times out, so I haven't tried that.

[The gf's subaru did a similar thing and it required replacing the entire radio and being in the shop for weeks.... (Hers would not turn off, and would randomly change to playing static at max volume... And required pulling the fuse or battery terminal) it was fun on the interstate....]

If anyone else has similar experience I'd appreciate the insight.

Thanks,
John

I have my rear seat reminder - turned off - it only works for 6 months or so - before you get a message that pops up - with option to enable or disable
As far as sync screen - with truck off and before opening door - sync will remain powered for 15 minutes- (if battery voltage is good)
Once you open door - sync should power off
so, if I understand correctly- you are not getting the rear seat reminder- all the time and only intermittently

So I get thwbrear seat reminder appropriately - I open rear door to put my bag in the back seat leaving work, upon arriving home it reminds me to check rear seat. All good.

But when I open the drivers door instead of the sync powering down it stays on, and allows me to make adjustments etc just like the truck was on.

Only immediate way to make it turn off is cycling the key and opening drivers door again.

I will pull the battery terminal this evening and see if there is any difference. Hopefully it does it again in a place I can sit and monitor it for 15 minutes. It always seems to happen when I arrive at work, home at night or the store...

Try cycling the power button on the sync itself - I just remembered you do have that option - it bypasses the auto off and times out - I believe with the power points 75 minutes - have to check the owners manual to be sure

Mines been doing weird stuff like that since I got it last year. Hasn't affected the battery or anything so far.

Not sure on a solution I'm afraid. I just know this radio seems to be the most glitchy out of all my rides. My F150 screen would freeze on the ford logo on occasion like this one does.

Just played with mine - if you push power button with truck off - sync will power up and stay on - even with opening door - it’s just one of those things you forget about - unless you use the feature regularly- I regularly use the auto feature-listen radio for a few minutes- open door and it powers off
By power button - I have Lariat so 8 in screen - I’m talking about the volume button - press and release- it

Figured I would tag on to this thread. Last week, the volume setting changed on my rear seat alert from medium loud to scare the crap out of passengers loud. It is consistently extra loud now and I would like to reduce the level back to where it was. I cannot locate the volume setting for alerts. Is our only option to turn off the alert? My former Colorado ZR2 and our current GMC Canyon both allow for the volume adjustment for warning alerts.
