anyone interested in a sort of ranger group meet up and do a few back roads ? might be fun to meet some folks in person, see some nice scenery maybe get the grills going at night and camp fire. I was thinking some time in 2022 when its not too hot. here is what i had in mind. i stole the map from another group, overland journal or something like that. but its a nice area good dirt and gravel roads that any truck will handle (maybe not lowered). mixed with some highway and plenty of food and fuel near the route. some folks are referring to is as the Texas Hill Country overland trail. it is not really a trail it is a mix of farm and ranch roads. 99.9% of the land is private owned and no trespass, but public county and state roads. we would yield right away to farmers and ranchers of course. route has a couple easy water crosses and photo ops. if anyone is interested lets try to get it planned. :fistbump:

Wow I'd love that, but a bit too far to come, and too expensive to bring my truck....

Would be fun, but I am a bit too far away, something in Ontario would be cool.

Sounds like a great time but just too far away :(

16+ hour drive for me to get there.

That sounds like great fun! I too would have a long few days drive to get there from Oregon. Would I be able to haul my tent trailer on the route? I am almost tempted to join in. I have never been to that part of the USA.

I'm in depending on the date working of course. Always wanted to run that trail. Supposed to be easy and scenic as long as it hasn't been raining

I think the James River is the big crossing on this route. Depending on recent rain it doesnt look too bad

Trailer should be no problem. The route is very little, if any, technical driving and mostly open roads

I am in FTW as well, but the river crossing would be too much. My Tremor needs much more work. The alternator is the biggest concern. It hangs really low on the Ranger 4 cylinder.
Your tremor would be fine, that picture makes it look really deep, its typically less than six inches deep unless a flash flood is going on etc. people driving cars with far less ability than the rangers make this route all the time. the only thing a bone stock 2wd ranger would need to make this is route is a driver that is not foolish and attempting things he should not, like crossing the river during a flood lol.

yes tent trailers would be no problem. this route is basically dirt roads and gravel that are scenic. ive seen subaru groups and even bicycle and motor cycle folks tackle it.

Yes the james river is the biggest water crossing and its nothing major. If our rangers cant cross that stock without having problems like the alternator then my ranger will be for sale lol. Ive splashed mine around in the brazos and red river with water deeper than that and had no problem.
