Howdy ya’ll! My 2021 Ranger Tremor is making a strange noise when driving over bumps, potholes etc. I read that the Fox 2.0 shocks could be the culprit! It’s noisy for sure. Hard to describe but definately not normal. Like a thud, knock type noise from the rear. I read that they only last 30-40k miles before servicing. Kinda sucks. It’s going into the shop friday anyhow. Just hit 30k miles! Thanks for any input or suggestions….

Is your spare tire dangling loose and flopping around?

I had the identical issue in my 2021 Tremor. Apx the same miles. The passenger side rear Fox shock was leaking. They changed it under warranty.

Something to note, when I loaded up the box with some weight the noise went away.

Driveshaft issues? But I think the tremor has a better one. Loose shock bolt, it happens. Do you have a hitch in the receiver? Mine rattled.

Without knowing too much… you could have a stiff shock in the rear (from fluid loss most likely, a slight seizure, or possible bent shaft causing unfavorable friction.)..

((story Time))
I had my friend Scottie check mine out recently (he is a certified mechanic, however.. he prefers ripping apart dirt bikes and putting them back together now.)… anyway he has an extremely scientific and incredibly accurate way of checking the rear shocks on my tremor…?
He put the truck on level ground, checked under the truck for possible leaks or bent stuff, stood on the trailer hitch, and (I can only describe this as) a jumpless single leg stomp while balancing on the trailer hitch (he said he was looking for the truck leaning one way or the other on the compression and rebound.. basically did both sides do the same thing at the same rate, and judged it based on his mental calculations of if I got kicked in the ass this hard how would it feel?.)… so after his circus act on the vehicle he said you good for a little while but you’ll want to service or replace them soon, but I got a couple months of use if I don’t do Off road or Stupid stuff like hitting speed bumps like a maniac..
I asked him how he knows, his reply was truck suspension jitsui…
(Just..Inspect…The…Shit…Under…It..)..
Yes we had had a few beverages of a particular kind.
Anyway that was early January now it’s a few months later and I feel the rear has firmed up.. could just be my brain playing a trick on me, but I’m at 50K with the original fox shocks now.
Anyway good morning guys?

He is not wrong. Its a great way to test them. Easy to notice when you remove old ones and install new ones. Just handling them side by side is mind blowing

The noise would go away because the shock was being pressed past the reduced level of fluid… (honestly I don’t really know exactly or how to properly explain it)..
When there is low fluid there’s a “air gap” and :::metaphor::: slapping water vs resting your hand on top of the surface of the water and pressing down..
The difference mounts would transfer the sound and distort it into the thud sound… again i don’t know and I haven’t had any breakfast or coffee yet.?

Found the issue! Was loose suspension bolts… ?
Yay, low to no cost solution for an issue. Now the money you didn’t have to spend on a fix can be properly allocated to a mod?

What bolts in particular were loose? Im having a noise from the rear of my Tremor as well.
Hello- my mechanic found the rear shock bolts were loose a quarter turn or so. Enough to make a clinking sound.
