Sounds like a typical EcoBoost engine. When you're running unloaded it's about par for the course. But as soon as you put it to work it starts drinking gasoline like it's sponsored by OPEC.

My Nissan Frontier CC 4x4 averaged 16.

My 2011 Jeep Wrangler and 2012 Jeep Wrangler (both 4-doors) averaged 19.

My 2018 Jeep Wrangler (4-door) averages 21.

None of those I listed would go below 14 MPG or so while towing. I wonder what the standard axle ratio will be for the Ranger? Will they offer a 3.73?

Rear axle ratio is confirmed as 3.73.

WXman is a bad@$$ since his 2011 Jeep Wrangler JKU averages 19 -- my 2011 JK Sport 6 speed drinks gas and oil like a drunk sailor...Granted, all my driving (6,500 miles per year) is in town, but I would kill for even 17 mpg

My Ranger Drive rep in San Antonio on Thursday gave me what he's seen on his truck driving it ~4500 miles so far. It's a Lariat 4x4 Crew Cab with FX4 package.

Best he's seen driving on the freeway is 30 mpg, typically 21-23 in the city. Between events he's towing a 3500 lb enclosed trailer and getting 13 mpg.

Checking the fuel economy in his trip computer, it was 13.5 mpg, which checks out since it was the first day of testing right after his drive between events with the trailer.

Another rep at the event, who's towing a larger trailer, said she's getting 8-9 mpg. It's a tall trailer, and looks like it'd be a huge drag in the wind.

Driver I was with said similar. She was driving one not pulling a trailer and said was seeing about 26 mpg, most of the time, under normal conditions.
