it makes sense to me. they're actually pretty rugged trucks. the 5th generation really only has one major risk, the transmission, but many people go a lot of miles on the trucks without issue. they also are not known for severe electrical gremlins, and i don't think it's a stretch to say that a lot of ranger owners hang onto their trucks longer than usual (people with less fiscal acumen and/or constraints tend to buy full size trucks), reducing supply.

now look at the 6th generation ranger where ford further improved the 2.3L (adding port injection), the 2.7L is one of ford's best engines in terms of issues, and the 10R60 transmission has had fewer problems overall.

add it all up and there ya go. good for ford. now if only Ford would commit to marketing the ranger!

edit: dang, scrolling down the ranger is the third best truck on the market for depreciation. nice!

That must be why the dealership is STILL calling and asking to buy the wife’s ranger… Lol Last time, I answered her phone and told the guy we’re not selling the truck. We’ve asked nicely quite a few times to stop calling us about it. Now, it’s gotten to the point where I’m about to report you and your sales department because this is borderline harassment. We’re not selling the truck. STOP CALLING!!!

I don’t like being “that guy” but damn. We’ve told them no at least 10 times and they’re still calling every week. They keep saying “used trucks are in high demand…” Yeah, we know. That’s why we bought one. Now piss off! Lol

When I went to get my truck serviced a few weeks ago. I was swarmed with offers from sales department to sell. That was funny to me.
