Apologies if this has already been answered, but I cant find it and didn't wanna take over someone else's thread. Basically, when my tires wear out, I am looking at going up a size to lt265/70/17, as there are not nearly as many tire options in the size lt265/65/17 and I think a slightly larger tire with more sidewall would look better. Along with that, I am looking at using the Ford tuned Fox shock leveling kit. Based on what I've read on here, that seems to be one of the most popular options. I dont mind the Fx4 Shocks at all, but I want to ensure there will be absolutely no rubbing/scraping with a size up tire. My question is that if I am towing something/hauling something in the bed moderately heavy, would the front of the truck begin to tilt up? Because of that I am wondering if the shocks can be adjusted to keep the same rake as the fx4 shocks provide, but just higher up.

The front shocks can be adjusted down to keep the rake if you like, but it’s not simple. You need to compress the spring to release the tension on the adjustment nut. But yes, it’s possible to keep some of the rake, however it will no longer be lifted. You could install a rear block to lift the rear and gain back the rake, or install something like the Icon leaf pack to raise the rear to your liking.

You can also get 1" blocks if you have the full "Fox Suspension" system on your truck. That way you would keep the height and clearance in the front for tires, and also regain a bit of the rake for towing. It is an option I have tossed around a bit...

Thanks guys, was hoping it would be as simple as turning a set screw or something. (I'm not familiar with this kind of stuff at all). Ill have to do some more research on those two solutions.

So the good news is you can go to 265/70-17 on stock suspension and factory wheels without having to worry about rubbing. This has already been confirmed and if you already like the ride quality of the FX4 suspension then that is most likely your best option.

With that said if you are wanting to keep rake while also doing a lift kit(totally understandable) then I would suggest one of two things.

If you want to install the fox leveling kit I would suggest leaving the front shocks alone and adding the Old Man EMU leafs. The rear will be liftes by 1.6 inches so you will maintain rake and you may also add to the extra comfort of the Fox suspension.

The second choice would be to go with the Old Man EMU lift all together. The front is lifted by 2.4 and the rear 1.6. You can load the truck just fine and the basic springs will take more load than the Icon Leaf springs.

Below are some pictures of my truck with the Old Man EMU lift with 265/70-17 and 285/70-17 tires.

I installed LT265/70R17 Cooper AT3’s on my second day of ownership and had zero rub or issues. Truck was bone stock otherwise. Actually rode 2x better on the larger coopers.
