Question for the group, especially FORSCAN users

Alright folks, I’m an idiot and I need help.

Visited my parents and realized my dad’s 2016 Lincoln MKC just needed a software update to enable Apple CarPlay. Figured I’d surprise him with how much he liked CarPlay satellite maps on my Ranger. Now I realize why you don’t just update stuff.

His came with Sync 3.2.2, updated him to the latest 3.3.0 using my USB stick from the Lincoln owner’s website. Went well. He puts it in reverse (has the shift buttons) and the FM radio turns on. Shuts it off with the radio power button. Next time he puts it in reverse, radio turns on again. Now he’s irritated.
I suspect it has something to do with the surround sound beeps from the parking sensors switching input to the radio. Searching for this problem on Lincoln and Ford forums seems no one else is having this happen.

I’ve got FORSCAN ability, and i’m generally pretty good with electronics. What the on earth do I do? Can I re-install the Sync update?

Surprising that a 2016 has 3.2 anything…. Did you mean Sync 3 v2.0.nnnnn? What is the complete version number you installed?

Also, most 2016 models will need a revised USB hub to allow CarPlay functionality in addition to the Sync software update.

To try to resolve this issue, I would try the following things in this order:
1. Disconnect the battery and let all the hardware reset.
2. If #1 doesn’t work, then do a Master Reset which will put Sync back to factory defaults (on whatever version is currently installed).

A Ford that old is on previous SYNC software. It’s not the same as ours is. Just reflash it with what ever you VIN numbers says to use. Do not think it will use SIRI but if it does turn that off. Beeps could be triggering something
