So I've been having a serious discussion with my wife about selling my Ranger... Not because I don't love it, but because I work from home now, and it only gets driven once or twice a week. Whenever we go somewhere as a family we take her full size SUV. I also stand to make 6-10k off selling the truck, and would just use that to buy something cheap for driving to church on Wednesday's and Sundays. I'm also struggling with the idea of making monthly payments on a vehicle that sits 75-80% of the time.... It's not a financial problem, it's just a penny pincher problem lol..... Thoughts?

BTW > My wife is against the idea lol.... she thinks I just want something different (while this is true, I could just pay cash for something different if I really wanted to) and wants the truck for "when we need a truck" which has been twice in the year we've had the ranger.

I had a similar situation but on my GT500. Bought it six months ago but for me it was purely a toy/weekend driver. I could not pass up $8,000 over what I paid.
That being said, I have a car, well truck, to drive. Not having a vehicle for the both of us would be too inconvenient. I am recently retired and we could make it work, but not worth the hassle.
If it's not a money deal, keep the truck.

I needed to add that the prices on used are high right now buying and selling as we all know. If you sell you will have to buy used and guess what, those prices are high thus you getting that much for your used truck.

It's definitely not a money issue, and that's my wife's hanging point. I'm just a tight wad when it comes to myself and stuff for me, and I see it as a total waste of money to pay that monthly payment for something that gets driven so little. Truth be told, happy wife happy life, so it'll probably end up staying an expensive yard decoration

- Dump it

- spend the profit on a decent used vehicle for your daily needs

- use the wife's car for family day

- Weekend Lambo rental every few months as reward for giving up the monthly payments :)

I’d hang in there a bit longer and then get a Maverick. Then you get a ride with nice mileage that doesn’t break the bank and is new. Also gets the wife nod!

If it’s not financial, why risk getting rid of a perfectly good truck for an over priced used unknown?
this is basically my wife's exact response lol. There's wisdom there for sure

This is true, and it has a little more cabin room than the ranger, which would allow for using it with the family. Then I go and read that the next gen ranger/raptor gets the v6 and I start wishing lol.

As to needing the "truck" a few times/year, all the big car rental places have work or dress quality trucks for rent now. I had a Hemi-Ram while waiting for this Ranger at $60/day all inclusive, and it was a ROCKET. Whether you are dumping stone in it, or just looking for speeding tickets, rentals are as much fun as you can have in a car.

Have you seen in the back of the new Ford Expedition STX? No rear seat. Cargo area is enormous with the seats folded down. If they were the same price as lower model F150’s I would consider one.

But having a bed is pretty handy too.
