When I went looking for my Ranger, my dealer did not have any Lariats in stock and the Lariats were too pricey for the options I wanted, so I went with the XLT. Now at first I thought I could get used to not having PKE or PBS. Well not having both sucks. I was on a mission to get Push Button Start (PBS) and Passive Keyless Entry (PKE). I wanted the ability to walk up to my truck, get in, push a button, put in gear and drive way. I went to the dealer and asked if PBS could be added to the vehicle as an option or aftermarket. I heard a no to both questions.
I was not satisfied. I could not believe that someone has not made an aftermarket solution for the PBS/PKE dilemna I was facing. So I turned to my most knowledgeable buddy I have, he is with me where ever I go. OK GOOGLE! How do I add Push Button Start to my 2020 Ranger?
Low and behold several you tube videos appeared showing several chinese made systems out there. Easyguard, Banvie and Cardot probably more. There are two videos showing a successful aftermarket install of the Easyguard EC 003 system using a little blue key tag. I wanted something more of a key fob you carry but never have to pull out.
A little more research and I found theior website https://www.ieasyguard.com with a host of different systems, key fobs and button types. I went with the Easyguard EC 002 system. Remote start, PBS, PLKE and alarm all in one system for less than 100 dollard on Amazon.
I know what you guys are thinking, cheap chinese crap right? Well I don't know the jury is still out. I had to do hours of research, before I became comfortable with the install. I know I needed a bypass module that taps into the Canbus system for the door locks and other system triggers. I went with the Fortin Evo All. I initially wired everything to the Fortin including ignition wires, but the system would only work as a remote start. Once I wired the Easyguard directly to the ignition harness, used an alarm bypass for the PATS, and used the Fortin just for the door trigger and lock/unlock action, walla, I have functioning PKE/PBS. I will post a video this weekend showing it working. I know if I had the wiring location for the door trigger, lock/unlock and wired the easyguard directly, I could eliminate the Fortin completely.
