I have to say stear clear from Stage 3. I ordered about 2500 in stuff and received my grill with no letters, a used Tonneau cover and the crappiest customer service ever. It is unbelievable that so many things could go wrong and the solution is I'll send you more...instead of let me upgrade your Tonneau or something. I've had it...Just placed a $2500 order with Summit Racing that Stage 3 Could have gotten had they known how to take care of their customers.

Hey there,

Please send me your Order Number so I can look into these issues.

Frankly, we do not ship out used parts EVER. The only used items we sell are project take-offs on local Craigslist.

However, items can be damaged in shipping, which happens a lot more frequently than we would like.

I do apologize for your issues, but I would like to work with you to resolve them.

I would also implore anyone who does have issues with our service to reach out to me directly via PM.

Thanks!

Jason,

I've dealt with Nate Carls and Kelly Edgley. There are 2 orders....310027 and 310798. The main issues are not related to the COVID shipping delays...I'm understanding in that regard. The main issues are when you spend 2500 or more you expect to not have to email customer service...a human should be available to help and if you call its a sales guy who says let me message customer service.

I received my Raptor Style Grill with the lighting but no letters. That is frustrating...however even more frustrating is receiving what is obviously a USED Tonneau cover. Given all the problems I've had which Nate is very well aware I would expect the company to step up and really make it right. Instead its an apology and "Sometimes I really just want an order to be done with" from Nate...which is true...I also want the order to just be done. But to be done right and receive what I paid for.

I realize you say you don't ship used parts but the unwrapped and almost completely assembled Tonneau I received with clear wear marks from installation and weathered labels/stickers is a clear indication that it is USED.

In that case I would say hey...Mr. Customer let us make it up to you. We will send you and upgraded Tonneau because we appreciate your business instead of "I'm sorry, I just want an order to be done too".

It's ok I'll be happy when I receive my letters and a NEW Tonneau. I had about another 2500 worth of stuff in my cart to buy with you guys and instead went to Summit Racing. I wish you all the best but you should really get your back office sorted out. Photos of the Tonneau are attached.

I've already spoken to Nate about 15 minutes ago so we will see how its handled now.

While I understand that you may be frustrated in regards to not being able to speak directly to a customer service representative over the phone, we were not able to get everyone at Stage 3 (including myself) set up on soft phones/VOIP when the Arizona Stay-at-Home orders were put into place due to technological limitations and the limitations of our employees home internet plans. We touched on this on our COVID-19 blog post.

I get it. I strongly prefer speaking with someone over the phone. While I do love all of our customer service reps, a lot gets lost between the lines when writing.

That being said, these are the realities of the situation. We had hoped that the Stay-at-Home situation would only last a few weeks, but that's not how things worked out, and Arizona is likely going to go back into an even tighter lockdown than before due to current infection rates.

That tonneau cover was not used. Unfortunately, Tonnopro is not the best when it comes to fit and finish. They are built for their $249 price point, and apprentice marks are just part of the game, as well as subpar packing which can lead to further damage.

That being said, your tonneau cover does look even more worse for wear than average, and we could've worked out a return and a switch over to a different tonneau cover, and likely could've worked out a deal on that other tonneau cover.

I've already spoken to Nate about 15 minutes ago so we will see how its handled now.
Please take care, and I appreciate your understanding and civility in advance.

Thank you Jason. I’ve been patient...I’ve tried and as I said would never recommend stage 3 again.

I would highly recommend the whole team read... https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/ravin...QYASABEgLVXfD_BwE#isbn=0688123163&idiq=619508

I've also worked with Kelly in the past... Not super helpful, but at least I finally got my item!

The worst part about the whole situation is the response of “sometimes I just want an order to be done” from them well guess what so do we...we want to receive what we paid for in new condition without having to fight for it. NEVER AGAIN!!! summit racing has a great selection, service and ultimately delivers on what they offer without excuses and making the customer feel like a burden.

I was on a conference call with E3 Overland today. I asked about another company that wasn't so Jeep Centric. They mentioned Stage 3 Motorsports. I have ordered a few items from them. One that I am still waiting for.... The "Tailgate Modification. " Hopefully the part ships soon. At least they reached out to me and let me know that there would be a delay and asked if I still wanted to wait or cancel the order. To me that was good customer service.

Now I'm not ragging on anyone but who the hell orders a $250 Tonneau cover anyhow?

And honestly, shame on Stage 3 for carrying such crap. Jason, if you know that company has poor craftsmanship then why carry that brand?

You guys have great review and build videos though. Keep up the good content!

It's a bummer you had such a negative experience. I've ordered from Stage 3, and had no issues at all with either the ordering process, product condition, or customer service. Their videos about how to install a bunch of stuff have been really helpful as well - even though I didn't always order what I installed from them.

To be fair I have never had a truck...been a Jeep guy so I had no idea the variety of Tonneau’s ended up buying another from elsewhere last night and spent around a grand so it should be good.

Bummer of an experience. I've ordered several items from them, and it's been a totally pleasant experience. Aside from the COVID shipping delays.

I too have had a good experience with Stage3MotorSports. It is sad that someone has had a bad experience.

I purchased a set of Nerf bars from Stage 3 last year. I did wonder why it took so long for the item to ship. After several week I paid a visit to their office in Phoenix. They do not deal with customers at all there, it is not a store front, only a phone center. Note: this was prior to COVID19.
All in all I was pleased with my purchase, just the delivery time was a concern. I also purchase from Summit Racing and find their staff very helpful.

To be fair, the OP's tonneau cover was pretty beat up, so I wonder if UPS may have manhandled it a bit, which we can't do a ton about.

Secondly, something is only "crap" if you can afford better. Tonnopro's covers tend to function just fine, and 90% of the time show up in good shape. If you can't drop $400 on a nicer tonneau, then it's essentially your only option outside of some Alibaba no-name brand.

Also, a lot of contractor types/yard crews/etc. tend to order them since they're going to get beat up anyway during the course of job site use, so why drop a huge dime on a TruXedo or a BAK that's just going to get beat 40+ hours a week.

For your average Ranger/F150 owner, I would recommend a TruXedo TruXport, or something similar, since the quality does tend to be better.

I have a TruXedo Deuce on my truck that's held up remarkably well over the last four years. My only minor quibbles with that tonneau are that the fold-back mechanism can be a bit finnicky and needs to be adjusted every once in a while, and the seals on the mounting rails have not done well in the Arizona heat/sun.

Up until this year, eCom tax law (especially in Arizona) was...weird. We had to charge in-state sales tax to Arizona residents, but eCom companies out of state did not. Thus, what would usually happen is that retail customers would come in, ask a bunch of questions and take our sales team off the phones, then order a given product from an out-of-state company to avoid having sales tax tacked on.

Needless to say, this definitely disincentivized Over-the-Counter retail, so we just stopped doing it.

That being said, Arizona is now collecting sales tax for all online sales as of March, so that may change.

Secondly, our front building is sales/customer service, but our back building (where I would normally be working) is Web content, truck storage, and product warehousing.

I did.

The Gator SFX Tri-Fold from Tonneau Covers World to be exact. $248 shipped for the cover and additional weatherstripping for the tailgate.

Not everyone wants to or has 1K to drop on a cover. This is especially true if they like myself only wanted something that I could install quickly when taking a short trip with the family when needed. I was impressed as it arrived in about 4 days, was in perfect condition and is a very nice high quality item for the price.

If it were something I planned on leaving installed 100% of the time or wanted it for added bed security then, yeah I could see paying a lot more for it.
