Go on ford.com and you can see it there in the vehicle info (you need to login obviously) It will guide you through the process, I did it with a usb and it worked great for me
USB is seamless

Time to update to build 23188, especially of you are on build 22251.
I just got a brand new 23 Ranger and it has build 22251... lol

I guess I will maybe do the update through ford.

When I swapped out my Sync 2 to 3 on my 15 F150. I used FORScan to set up everything matching my VIN on the APIM and then used cyanlabs to updated maps and all.

I guess I can try to trust ford one time.

Be sure that you open and do the guide on ford.com verbatim, youll need a good sized flash drive and will need to reformat it to a different storage format so it will need to be empty, and the vehicle will need to be sitting on for a good while (took me like 30 min) So its a perfect excuse to do some interior detailing!
I did mine on a drive and it worked perfectly- via usb

I had this happen once. Rebooted sync (hold power and skip forward buttons down). After reboot I re-paired and it has worked solid ever since.
