I looked around the forum and haven't seen a reference. Would be curious if you guys have the same effect. The letters next to the shifter don't light up for P R N D S. i have to look at the gauge on the dashboard to confirm where i am. Is that the same for others here?

I am riding along with my kids to teach them driving and i noticed that i can't see what gear they were in easily. In many cars, the letter lights up orange. It kind of looks like it should, as it had that sort of translucent look.

It's not a big deal... unless i am the only one!
Not the only one, the letters do not light-up if the main lights are not on, and even then they do not reflect what gear you are in.

I would’ve never figured that would be an issue as the PRND setup has been the same as long as I can remember so if for whatever reason I didn’t know what I was in, I could always move it all the way back up and then back down to whatever mode I wanted to be in.

Agreed. Not an issue for me either. I only noticed because of my teenage drivers who don't have the intuition or experience. Peering into the cluster isn't as easy from the passenger seat. (Trust, then verify!)

lets be real, you're just angry with yourself because you hit the set button too early.
I use cruise control a lot to get the best mpg's, as I've said in previous posts I'm kind of addicted to the instant gratification of the fuel economy meter. And nine times out of ten driving I5 in the greater Seattle area is a mess of speed up and slow down.

What befuddles me about this change to cruise control is why? What need or reason was there to change it in such a way?

More than a pet peeve, and not exclusive to the Ranger, but I hate how the cruise control doesn't reset if you go faster than what you initially set it at. Like if you set it at 55, then go up to 60, you have to turn it off and then turn it on again at that higher speed. But it WILL let you reset it if you go slower.

I hope whatever genius came up with that change dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell.
A little dramatic, but .

What do you mean? If I set at 55 and go to 60...then hitting the set button holds it at the new speed 60...no need to shut off to set new speed...

Not on mine, it only goes up one mile at a time. I noticed the same thing driving the new Explorers my department got.

I’ve never noticed until you mentioned it... I’ve come from a long line of manual transmission vehicles so never even expected it to light up or indicate which gear it’s in.

After seeing your initial post I didn't think it sounded right so I tried it several times yesterday and it worked perfectly. E.g. cc set at 40, speed up to 45, hit the +/set button 1 time, cc now set to 45.

I didn't pay attention but maybe it works/doesn't work depending on whether the accelerator is pressed/not pressed when the button is pressed.

I am a bit disappointed in the location of the end of the block heater cord. Where you still have to go fishing in the opening to get the cord to plug it in. Ford had an awesome idea on my 2014 Fusion where the block heater cord is integrated into the fog light bezel. You just plug your extension cord from the house into the receptacle built into the bezel. Living on Saskatchewan where winter is long and temps that can get to -40 or more, the less time bumbling around looking for the cord end the better.

My VW had that. It was great.

When you're on the accelerator the mph should grey out in the cruise display. At that point hitting the plus should cause it to set. If you let off the accelerator without pushing a button the mph should go white and it should return to the set point.

I dont understand what you mean? if i set it at 55 then spped up to 60 all i have to do is push the speed faster button once and it sets at the speed im at. Plus 1 mph maybe.
