Ordering a 2019 Ranger has been one foul up after another. I'm dealing with Kendall Ford in Anchorage Alaska.
I gave them the configuration printout from the build and price tool back in October. They screwed around for four weeks before the order actually went in. In the process I've gone through three different salesmen. Two quit. The third I'm hoping will stay until I get my truck.
I ordered mine with a retractable tonneau cover. They said that the tonneau wouldn't be available until February, but that they would build my truck in early January and have the dealer install the tonneau later.
Then I was told my truck was scheduled to be built the first week in January. Not bad I thought.
Then the dealer tells me that the factory has delayed my Ranger build until March because the tonneau isn't available. I was never given the option to delete the tonneau and have the truck built on time.
Then the dealer says they ordered another Ranger like mine but minus the tonneau and it would be built in February. I could have my choice of that one or wait for the one I ordered much later. I guess they think I should be happy about this. I haven't seen their order configuration to see it its like mine.
I can't believe what a fouled up process Ford has set up for ordering this vehicle. I'm 72 and have been buying Ford vehicles exclusively since 1983. Had many others going back to 1962. I love my Fords. But this process isn't worthy of the company I'm familiar with. I'm hoping that when I'm finally able to take delivery of my Ranger it will be the last vehicle I have to buy. I will certainly NEVER order another vehicle from the factory. I hope the guys building the truck are more competent than those handling the customer orders.
Mine is a Lariat SuperCrew in Sabre. With all my options it tops out pretty close to $48K including delivery.
Could be my problems are more dealer related then factory. But I feel I should have been given the option to delete the tonneau and have my truck built on schedule/on time. Not have some yay-who in Detroit make the decision for me.
