Just received the replacement from Ford. See attached
-- Ford must program the new keypad to the Ranger or it will never work correctly.

What about mounting the keypad vertically on the black door pillar?

Works for me. I have had no problems with the pad,

and I use it fairly often. Have had truck since April.

I just got the keyless pad and had it programmed by my local dealer. He told me I could install it wherever I wanted. It is mounted to the black trim behind the glass. I think it looks better than on the paint.

Agreed, I like it better there than above the door handle as well. Think if I pick one up I may hide it on the inside of the fuel door like I have seen here.

Am i correct in assuming that the dealer had to program it to your particular truck?
How much did they charge you for this service?
Thanks !

Yes the dealer has to go thru Ford and their website. I was able to get a cash deal on the side $30. My dealer is a long time acquaintance so he gave me a deal.

Good deal !
For what it's worth, I just got off the phone with a longtime friend who is a Ford parts counter person here to inquire about this item.
During our conversation he said that he had just sold a left tailight assembly for a '19 Lariat, to the tune of $2,200 dollars!
The entry pad is a more palatable $100, thank goodness.

Yes, I got the keypad for $80, then paid the technician $30.

I bought Ford part KB3Z-14A626-A keypad. My dealer could not program it to my truck. It sounds like my only option is to try another dealer. Any suggestions?

Yes you could try another dealer but make sure the key pad is still good. My dealer had a bad one that the Ford rep credited for him just the day before I did mine.

Also the Dealer tech had a problem with a slow internet connection when he started to do mine and he changed to a different laptop with a newer download.

I'm pretty sure it can be done without the Ford diag software. I was able to program my other one easily with just the 2 keys and pad.

As long as you didn't get part of the bad batch. Mines been broken 75% of the life of the truck, still waiting on replacement part.
Was thinking of this when I bought my truck, sales guy said they wore out quickly and did not recommend it...

I loved the built in keypad my F-150 had, still worked after 16 years.
