Ok to jack up the front end from the cross member? Or should I only be done by the LCAs?

Dumb question, but I want to make sure before putting the truck up on jack stands. Is it ok to jack up the truck from the crossmember? Or should I jack up each side individually from the lower control arm beneath the strut? Thank you!

I have done it. I put the jack stands on the frame only. If that cross member can handle a skid plate slamming on rocks a jack is probably fine. But lets someone who thinks before they do answer.

You can jack on that cross member, but where you show is off-center. I would remove the plate shown in your picture and then jack on the center of the cross member. That is where I jack mine using a floor jack.

I would put a short piece of 2x4 between the jack and the skid plate to keep from crushing it, or like RangerBill said, take the skid plate off. It's rather thin sheet metal.

Thank you gentlemen! I'll need to remove the FX-4 skid plate as well, so I'll take the crossmember plate off too. I also have my safety hockey puck on the jack to prevent damage.

As the part you circled in red is off center, truck might lean when jacked there. I used a block and shim to raise the front end. Then put jack stands on the frame. Kinda ugly but it worked great.
