Bought suspension off of a Tremor owner that upgraded.
Bump stops are out of the metal cups and I am trying to get them back in so I don’t have to have my shittier FX4 ones on there anymore.

I tried a large hammer and chisel: no luck.
Lining it up and running it over: no luck.
Thinking about breaking out the KY… stop me.

Anybody ever successfully get it back into the metal cup? If so, how?

How about deep freezing the BS with dry ice and heating the cup?

I helped my stepdad rebuild a fuel pump on a ‘56 Mercedes gullwing. There was a metal bellow that had to be within 1 degree C of pump to fit old school. We ended up with this method.

Try some dishwashing liquid in water, should give you enough slip to get it in there and once it dries won't be as slippery. Twist as you're pushing it in and it should go.

Also shouldn't react with the polyurethane and degrade it.

im just watching to see how this turns out. I thought about upgrading the bump stops but did not do it yet. maybe this will motivate me...
Fun fact, hockey used to keep the ready pucks on dry ice. IDK if they do that anymore..

That and/or maybe use a bearing press

I got a pretty good system down. Certainly not easy and probably not safe so continue at your own risk.

Tools: Hammer, small pry bar or maybe a tire iron. I used a small pry bar. The larger of a human being you are-the better.

Lined up one side of the bump-stop under the grove of the metal cup. Pushed little bits of the bumpstop around the metal cup into the grove. Once I got to the point that I couldn’t do it by hand anymore, started shmacking the crap out of the top of the pry bar with a hammer to set it in a little bit more. This got it around most of the way, but not all the way set into place. This process is like putting a tire on a wheel… but instead of putting the tire on the wheel, you’re putting the wheel into the tire.
Now it gets risky. I set it up under my tire and parked on top of it for a good minute. See pictures. If I just drove over it, it wouldn’t set.

If anybody does this be careful. When you slowly back off, the bump-stop gets to a point where it slips out from under the tire and launches the piece of wood or other object you used to get up on top of it. Don’t do this with kids, pets, or wives (that you like) around.

I've had a pair of OE bumpstops listed for free for several months. Their off my 2 wheel drive Lariat Sport, and they do have the plastic spacer. They were replaced with Sumo's-Blue at around 5000 miles...still basically new.
Their free, but was asking $15 bucks to cover shipping.
Still have em if needed.

How about a vice? You could take a 2x6 and drill out some holes to use as a jig on each side, then crank on it with a vice.
