It is probably obvious, but I wanted to point it out to hopefully save someone a headache down the line.

The factory lug nuts are 3/4", as is the included lug wrench on the truck. The gorilla automotive lug nuts I swapped are 13/16.

No big deal, but if you get a flat tire, you wont be able to use the lug wrench on the truck to get your tire off. Be sure to put tools on your truck so you can get them off when needed.

This is how I mounted a lug wrench behind the rear seat (and a couple of hitches as well ?). It fits better than it looks from this picture.

Reached out to Gorilla for fitment advice. This is their reply:

Thanks for getting in touch.

If you are looking for a black or chrome replacement lug nut for a 2021 Ford Ranger with factory alloy wheels, we recommend a 3/4" hex lug to match the OEM spec and lug wrench.

Here are the 3/4" part numbers:

41137BCB (black, 4 pack)

41137HTB (chrome, 4 pack)

Hi RT,

I have not seen any lug nuts from Gorilla that have the proper bearing area of the 60° cone...Maybe they got clued in and now offer one with a much wider cone.

Those on page 9 are the ones I have that are 13/16. The 3/4 ones are the part numbers listed above, which are on page 3.

i just call Ford Roadside assistance.
The tow truck drivers love to tell stories, and who am I to deny them that story for their grandkids....

Old Tow truck driver to grandkids:
"there was this one time, I had to drive 15 miles out into the bush on a goat trail to change some dumbass' flat tire. He didnt even tip me and I got stuck myself trying to turn around in muskeg so deep you could barely see the antenna as I wrestled my truck out of the thick quagmire. Pinning the throttle and throwing up rooster tails of mud, I launched my wrecker out of the pit and headed back to town where your grandma had me a fresh blueberry pie waiting for me and a hot shower"
Years back I had a neighbor who was a wrecker driver and he'd drink a few beers and get to telling stories like this. Had some real doozies too.

I keep a breaking bar with the correct socket on it in the truck in case I ever HAVE to change a tire.
I keep my breaker bar and wheel socket set along with the factory rods to lower the spare in my swing case. That way I don't have to tear everything out of the back seat if I have a flat. Yes you need to use the 13/16" hex nuts if you want to have the correct cone size for our stock wheels. The 1/2" hex ones are too small.

Apparently, they make a 3/4" lug nut with the same specs. I know many people, myself included, installed the 13/16 lug nuts, so just wanted to give a reminder to hopefully prevent someone from getting stuck and not having the right tool with them to change the tire.

Good call on the breaker bar. I put one in my truck directly on top of the factory rods, along with a 13/16" deep socket.

The numbers that were given for the 3/4 hex nuts are the small ones. This is very obvious in the picture that @Trigganometry posted as you can see the light area around the nut. It is important to have the correct bearing surface on the taper of the nut as this will affect torque holding the wheel on. This is much more important than having to carry a different socket. Anytime you change something on your truck you need to check things to make sure you have the right tools with you. Should be using a torque wrench anyway. Mine is right next to my breaker bar.

You have to look at page 3. See this picture:

I eventually get McGard lugs on all our cars when the plastic or pot metal covers break. Sometimes they factory wrench fits, sometimes it doesn't. I keep a 4-way or collapsible 4-way in all of them, has more torque anyway. Jeg's has the best price I've found on McGards.

Most important aspect of any nut used is that it’s from forged materials and uses the full flange face of the mags. If not then you’re rolling the dice

Hey guys,
I just upgraded tires and wheels. The seller included lug nuts with the purchase and only said that they were upgraded and longer that the original factory's. Not sure of the spec's. If needed, I can get them for you after the Gorilla's are installed and replaced with the upgraded lug nuts. I had the service dept. to install the upgraded lug nuts with the upgraded tires and wheels. Also just got some Gorilla wheel locks but haven't installed them yet. Any advice about removing and installing the upgraded lug nuts in case of a flat (tools needed, torque, protecting the lug nuts, etc.)? Also any insights on installing and removing the Gorilla's (tools needed, etc)? Should I keep my factory original lug nuts? Thanks for any help!
