What is the clunking noise behind the right side of my dash? I only hear it with the motor off, my girlfriend thought it was a large animal chumping on something, but I know that's not the cas.

When does it happen exactly? Is it when you first unlock the truck? Or is it constantly when you don't have the engine on?

I assume you're not referring to the fuel return buzzing noise that is sometimes heard when opening the door, or minutes after shutting off the truck.
In that case, it might be a blend door binding inside the plenum behind the dashboard as it is trying to return to it s off position. The HVAC plenum deforming is a known problem on these trucks.

Do a search on this forum for "blend door" and see if the responses sound like your problem.

I am thinking you are correct, we need more information his description isn't super thorough. I am thinking its the fuel return in all likelihood

But I think that problem was only 2019 models, and 'fixed' afterwards, but I guess it's still possible.

It's not a buzzing sound, it's more like a rhythmic chomping or clucking sound.

Here are the possible sources of the noise at engine shutdown.

If it is coming from the right side of the dash,

Pull the glovebox down and investigate.

Now you state you only hear it with engine off, Does it only produce the sound for a few seconds just after shutting down?

If so, then look at the 2 door actuators, Upper - (Air Inlet Door) Lower - (Pass Temp Door) if you have the Dual Automatic Climate Control.
When you turn truck off, these actuators are depowered, and they will cycle to a unpowered position.
If one is noisy, it will produce a clicking / popping sound (plastic gears) meshed and gears jumping.

You also have electric modules in that area, they have relays in them, this will be a clicking sound.

1. TCU - Telecommunications Control Unit
2.TRM - Trailer Module - If you have the factory tow package

I believe some have reported the Trailer Module being noisy at times

For Ref:

Trailer Module (TRM)

TCU - Mounted to the left of it.

Door Actuators:

#5 Air Inlet (Recirculation)
#4 Pass Temp Door

And for external noise, which I think this is what you are hearing

Waste Gate Actuator - Viewed looking over the top of the RF Tire.
This actuator power cycles just as you open the driver's door, (PCM Wake Circuit) to prep for engine start up.

When you turn truck off, it depowers. and cycles

Try this, open passenger window, get in the truck -(Open & Close) Drivers Door.
Do not do anything, as far as starting or accessary power. (Keep It Quiet)
Just sit and wait 3-Minutes, and then press the brake pedal and release.
You will hear the Waste Gate Actuator cycle.
