Work 6pm to 6am. Start days off Monday morning. Go to bed at 800AM and force myself awake at lunch time. Be productive. Lots of yard work for hours on end. Go to bed at 10PM so you can live a normal life for next 24 hours. Wake up at 1130PM. And here I am. Thats it. Where you expecting a punch line?

So I've done about a decade of thirds.

Your method of schedule flip is my preferred method. If I can't get that first little nap in after shift I'll just bull run through the day. My girls love it when "daddy's getting delirious."

But doing the quick nap + schedule flip and then reversing when I go back to work gives me the illusion of 2 1/2 days off. Where my coworkers who don't do this often feel like they only get 1 1/2 days off.

Hopefully I will only be on that godforsaken shift till the end of February and I can go back to days I’m pretty sure I’m going to gain 20 pounds. My only companions is this bag of pistachios and a krystal cup filled with bang energy drink as my mind slowly dwindles down the rabbit hole know as the internet

Hang in there brother it gets better. Keep yourself motivated. Get out and walk the 24 hour stores when you get tired, gets the blood moving, wakes you up and good PR

We have a Sprint gas station that's 24/7. That's it for my little four square miles of coverage. However it is still pretty common for me to sneak out to the interstate area about a half mile outside the city and hang out with the deputies.

Having a small beat is definitely harder to do. Luckily at the County I had Meijer and 3 Walmarts plus the gas stations.

One night I got out at a local RV dealership that had some thefts, walked along the edge of the pond and just a few steps away a beaver slapped its tail in the water and scared the bajeezes out of me, woke me up in a hurry too. Here I was using my STOPS training watching for bandits on the ground and it came from the water...?

Our service area tonight has a nice little pizza joint that's open 'til 3.

Hopefully the minions can wipe their own asses tonight and I'll be camped out on a pie by 1, enjoying some "fireman time."

Also, just to be clear. Not a fireman, just what I call sitting around waiting for some grown ass man to need an emergency asswiping.

Oh I understood what you meant lol

I've been catching up on Bosch on Amazon Prime after midnight. I watched S1-5 a few years back and sort of forgot about, now they have a season 6 and 7 out.

I love my 12 hr night shifts. 5pm to 5 am. No management, no deliveries, no conference calls, and no meetings.

This was my drive in tonight to work. Decided to hit the dry lake bed to avoid a small traffic 10 min delay on IH-15.

Our full staff is 10 operators. We have 7 right now and one in training. I am working May 1-15 all 12 hr night shifts because of covering the missing guys. I don’t even look at the calendar because the day of the week means nothing to me, just another night at work.

They are paying us stupid money and that’s nice but it is getting old. Last paycheck was 76 hrs straight, 32 hrs 1.5 OT and 28 hrs double time. 136 hrs in two weeks.

I worked 7 nights a month from 5 to 5. I also was a Powerplant operator. It was a easy gig, but it was still "work". Glad I am retired.
