Thanks everyone. Rust had started taking hold of my Sport Trak after many trips to ski country so I will be rust proofing my Ranger soon. I got trade in offers from $3,500 to almost $7k and luckily for me the 7K was the only local dealer with a new 23. I don't know what the heck Ford is doing, no Rangers or Mavericks anywhere but F-150s that no one can afford as far as the eye can see.

I will use better gas and try tow haul mode today. I see a Ford Performance tune in my near future. I never got around to tuning my Focus ST and I regret that now that it's gone.

Save your money...you don't need a tune or mid grade gas. That truck will run just fine the way it is.I'd ask your dealer to re-program the trans learning process and you'll find that truck runs just great the way it's designed to run.

Turbo'd engine = premium gas
Weird shifting = tune

OP already regrets not tuning his last car let's not lead him down that path. Tuning definitely wakes up the truck. Ford performance is the way to go for warranty purposes.

Welcome Jeff - great looking truck and I can see you're a man that knows what he's after. It's a great group of people here and I'm sure you'll find plenty of ways to part with your extra cash when you see some of the mods folks have got on here.

I just purchased a new 2023 XLT Shadow black with black out appearance package on Saturday. I'm coming from a Sport Trak I bought new in 2009. I have many questions but the first one is about an off idle hesitation. Its really annoying to try and drive smoothly as it seems to stumble or try to decide which gear to go get. Every Ranger I test drove did this. I assume its normal? Thanks in advance.

Drive in S mode and you will never notice that again. Many on this forum only use S

I run 90 Non-Eth gas, I dont like or need any Corn in my truck, at first when this issue started to bug me the work around was (S) Sport mode, then I noticed Tow/Trailer mode did the same thing kind of, the Shift Points on these trucks suck! Ford should have done something about it a long time ago!
one of these days I will get around to doing a Ford Performance Tune!
I am going to buy the Scantool program just to turn off the stupid auto start/stop pain in the ass ....
I have also had a Sport Trac I loved it but the Ranger XLT FX4 is next level

Ranger 5G is at the end of its life cycle so there aren't many left to buy. Plus, they prefer to run Broncos on the line. 6G Rangers should start production soon as the order banks are now open.

Hey Jeff, I had 2 Focus ST's prior to my ranger a 13' and a 17' both were tuned by Unleashed and my Ranger is as well. I tuned then with about 4,000 miles on them. I dont drive the truck too hard so I am not concerned about the warranty aspect....I do regret getting rid of my 17' ST, that car was sooo much fun!!

I wrecked my ST on a tyranny fluid spill on the road to work and the insurance money and the sport trac got me most of the way to the Ranger. I would never have sold the ST. I loved that car so much!

I'm already accessorizing my Ranger and I haven't even had it a week. I'm gonna need a second job.

Now that is a sharp truck. The first Ranger I had was black, with the FX4 package. I really like the rims and the blacked out front skid plate that are part of the black package you've got on yours.

Hi all - next question - my truck has the base 4x4 package. I haven't found any info on it. What's included and how is it different than the FX4? Thanks in advance.
