Welcome to the zoo, @22Splash. This is an Old School kind of place; sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek are the official languages spoken around here, and Charlie Brown sums up the spirit of this forum pretty well:

Bought my 22 Splash forest green edition (one of 500), brand new Sept of 22, so far it's been stellar...0 issues, only oil changes. It is running the Ford Performance tuner, and is a real kick to drive, hard to believe it's a 4wd SC pick-up that could put my old 85 5.0 mustang GT in the weeds probably while pulling my boat. Just joined up to find out more about rangers, they seem the odd choice in Ford trucks, you either have a Maverick or a F150, rangers seem uncommon. I do think they are superior to tacomas in quite a few ways....I do not miss my company tacoma one bit.

Welcome Dave,

What a great rare truck you have there.

Someone once asked in the forum if the Ranger was a Boomer truck. I replied, “Maybe not a boomer truck but I think the forum membership might be a tad skewed toward the 4:00 dinner rush demographic - present company included.“

So, yeah, you found the right place and you’re off to a good start in the damper wars. Welcome to The Resistance.

Welcome, great color!! Wish that was an option when I ordered mine, unfortunately I think it was a Lariat only option at the time (??) which I didn't want. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong lol.

Boomer truck, as opposed to the tacoma, the flat-biller bro-truck, i give a guy at work crap about it and it really bothers him, I say look! it even says it's a TuRD! .....Ive had Rangers since there were Rangers, first was a 83, had a 84 a 89, a 91, 93, and until 22 a 2002 Ranger, all gave me great service, but the new one is a stand out, the first truck I've ever had that gets 20mpg...pulling a 17ft boat.

In my parts, RAM seems to hold the all-time bro-truck title.

I’m also a long-time Ranger fan (‘91, ‘96, ‘01). I was ready to trade my 2001 in 2012 for a new one - shocked they had stopped production! So, I hung unto it, hoping and waiting for Ford to bring the Ranger back. The first thing I noticed about my 2019 was the size, the second was how quick it is.

@22Splash Dave, welcome to the forum from another, experienced, old guy. I've had my 2019 since May of 2019, so coming up on 7 years. There are a great bunch of knuckleheads here that are willing to help you spend money. Now lets smoke your credit card, Ha Ha.

Ford doesn't promote the Ranger like they do their other products specifically the Maverick and of course the cash cow F150. Ford doesn't want the Ranger to eat into the F150 profits by making the Ranger as well endowed as the F150. The Maverick is no threat to the F150 and the Bronco is a totally different market. In countries other than the US the Ranger is the size truck you will see. The Tacoma is the sales leader based on their reputation of being a really good truck (formerly) and the fact it was pretty much the only choice when Ford stupidly ceased building the Ranger again for fear of eating into the F150 market

I think my favorite old Ranger was the 84, 2.8 V6, 5spd 4x4 with 7ft bed and DUAL tanks, it had range to get there, and would go anywhere. Miss that antique.
