New Mountain bikes?

Deleted member 15875

Kinda wishing i had kept my FSR Enduro.

Got the shipping notification yesterday. With luck, I'll be riding the new one Sunday.

Been watching a lot of vids on eMTB, and one thing I've learned-I had some serious misconceptions out e bikes. I was one of those e bike haters (prob spent too much time followinging Drunk Cyclist-now I just want to troll him-hahaaa!), didn't see them as real bikes, thought the riders were lazy, cheaters, etc...But man, I'm starting to get pretty excited for this thing to get here now.

I am feeling a little bit of guilt/shame/sin going this route, (just a little) but I imagine that will all go away after my first rides. Maybe as penance, I'll get that Enduro S Works frame set and do a slow build over he next few months or so... ? This isvjust beauty beyond beauty...

Specialized bikes are pretty darn good. I think you just need to start riding it now. Your world is about to open up. There's a 12 step program for you as well. I had to go through it, but thankfully I'm on the other side now and haven't looked back. Enjoy.

I've really been leaning this way. Problem is, I was wanting a new m/c, and I figured if i was going to spend that kind of cash on something motorized, it was going to be a new motorcycle.

I was also concerned that an ebike make me soft. I'm not the climbing beast i used to be, but I still want the workout/fitness reward.

There are a lot of places to ride here-a lot of ridge roads, many descending 3-5 miles, and dropping 1500 to 2500 feet elevation. A lot not real conducive to the motorcycle, for various reasons. And i love just getting out for half day/full day excursions.

So I decided to do a little more research on the Specialized website. Wel...they had a deal i couldn't pass up on a Turbo Levo comp. Under 6k, and it will be here in 7-15 days. I REALLY hope their shipping timelines are on point, as i have a week off work in 18 days.

And I still have my Diverge and Tarmac to get the more serious workout on.
Your going to love the Levo! Ebikes are a game changer. I’ve had my turbo kenevo for two seasons now and it’s one of my most prized possessions. Specialized is really dialed with the new tech. The levo wont make you soft you can still crank away as hard as you want the difference is you can do 4x the ride in the same amount of time as on an acoustic bike and you’ll get out more once you realize you no longer need a half day to hammer out a ride. I’m now pedaling up all the old shuttle runs faster than it used to take dealing with the vehicles and sending full on downhill trails just too much fun. Haven’t bought a season pass to Whistler either since I got the Kenevo.

I've seen that Bosch now has ABS for ebikes. Maybe that's what you get for 23k?

First mods alreay ordered, btw. Stem is too short, so of course i had to get the matching bars, Next will be the crank arms...I went with Race Face Atlas. I'm a sucker for topo maps.

Should have seen/heard my ex when i brought my S Works Tarmac home. That was a fun one. That's not why she's my ex, but I'm sure it was a contributing factor.
I got you beat. Mine came off the roof of my RS in Richmond area on 95 and got hit be a Silverado, $4k in damage to the truck. I had not discussed buying that bike prior with my wife, so I got to explain I just bought a $14k bike and bike rack released it on the bumpy section of 95 to get hit by a truck. Luckily, $800 for new brake levers, handlebar and saddle and it's good to go. Better for me saddle and I like the DH bar more too. The bike held up well, after running back down the freeway to pick it up I rode it back to the car. Then used the tool kit in the stem to disassemble it enough to fit in the car.

I had my mtb come out of the back of my truck at 70mph. Didn't realize till I got to camp and it was gone. Backtracked the 5 mile bumpy forest rd...nothing...3 miles back on the main raod, and there it was. Just laying on the side of the road. Only damage was seat and bars. I was able to straighten the rails enough and adjust the seat angle to still ride for the weekend. The bars were juuuust bad enough to force more focus and make cornering a little more interesting.

And people give me a hard time over the $14k for mine.
I would too as I’m not an avid MTBer but it’s the future. In the 90’s there were no full suspension bikes and look were things went and how much they were when they first came out. I’m a half mile from a MTB park in the summer and then ski ? in the winter.

In the 90s I had a cheap hardtail, but I still broke it urban riding off of walls and such. The current bike is way lighter and stronger.

Tomorrow makes 10 days with this beauty/beast. Got the first upgrades, and the final pieces to dial her in today.

Got 100 miles in so far, mostly dialing in and setting up. My Ranger has 2100 miles @ 7.5 months. Now, the race is on to see how fast I can catch up.

I have Schwinn Traxion Mountain Bike Source: https://www.bikethesites.com/full-suspension-mountain-bikes-under-2000/, I bought it for $600, and now I can see it's much more expensive. It rides like a dream on the rough dirt and rocky mountain roads near my house, the full suspension and big 29" tires really soak in the bumps, very smooth. I am very pleased with the overall performance of the bike so far, it shifts very quickly up and down and the disk brakes are strong. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone that is NOT interested in hard core wide open downhill mountain trail riding.

Kinda wishing i had kept my FSR Enduro.
I'm currently sporting a 10 year old FSR XC Comp that's been through hell with me. Probably 10K miles worth of races, many of them of the 50 miles at a time. It's a 26er.

So last year (2021) I went to my bike shop and told them to call me when they get a Specialized Epic Comp Carbon. I'm still waiting.

So I called up earlier this year and asked if they forgot about me. Nope, but people who put money down and get on a list get first first dibs. Some people pay in advance and wait a year. Earlier this year all their 2022 bikes, aside for some not common frame sizes, are all gone early in the year and they don't get any more until next year.

Yeah they had a few other brands in stock, and he started rattling them off, but I want what I want. These days the only way you get a desirable bike is pay and wait a year.

So I bought another motorcycle. hahah. Used, because the new bike I wanted was unavailable nationwide. Sheesh. ?
