Hi all,

Im Ryan, Im an alcoholic.....Wait wrong group. Im a new ranger owner. I got a 2020 magnetic gray Sport package. This is the first truck I've ever owned. I have had it for about 3 weeks now. I had a 2013 Focus ST before this and I do miss it. But I was excited to see how big of a following this truck had and to notice most of my aftermarket companies are here for this vehicle too.

There were a few things I wish I could've added to the truck but they were just a little out of my price range. I do wish I had the 4x4 and a true navigation. Not this phone connect crap. oh and I hate the auto start stop.

Other then that I'm really liking the truck.

Are there things on the truck I should "fix" before adding any kind of modifications to it?

What are the recommended modifications for this truck?

Excited to be part of this community! thanks guys and gals

Welcome Ryan! Since you asked the recommended #1 mod is a tailgate damper! ? Now that we have that out of the way if you want to disable the auto stop/start just plug in a LED Nightlight into the 110v behind the center console or there's a plug to the battery which will do it too.

Start from the 6:20 mark so you don't have to listen to him ramble on.

Sadly theres probably some chump that just plugged a nightlight in and doesn't understand why his truck wont start lol.
It'll still start it just won't shut off every time you hit the brakes. Or as @Doc says..Just push the button. ;)

Hi Ryan,

Congrats on the new Ranger! These forums are full of very helpful people with a few trolls...Moderators keep Trolling to a minimum... Research you desired mods. I stay away from any mod recommendations unless I see something not safe or wise. These forums will help you sort out the junk from the good stuff...

Enjoy your new Ranger!

Tail gate dampner should be the first mod you do. Before anything else!

Hi Ryan,

You’ll find some helpful folks here and some good-hearted ribbing about certain mods.

Typical mods are....

Front lift/level
Bigger, wider tires
Aftermarket Wheels
Tailgate Dampers
Tonneau covers
Toppers/Canopies
Performance Tunes
Raptor Style Grilles

Some of the more serious mods are...

Suspension Upgrades
Upper and Lower Control Arms
Full Lifts
Bed Racks
Roof Top Tents
Dual Exit Exhaust
Low Restriction Intakes

The good news is there are a number of members who have done all these things and can guide you through the process and pitfalls of each. So, search a lot of threads for information, check out the Showcase section, build threads, reach out to members for advice, and most importantly, enjoy your new Ranger.

Oh, and you’ll definitely need a twelve step program once you get started.

Hello friends! I joined a little earlier this year awaiting possession of my new Ranger. I ended up getting a pretty choice deal on a 2020 Lariat with 501A, FX-4, black appearance package, and trailer tow. Had it two days now and I’m in love.

We’ve always been a Toyota household and I’ve always had my eye on a Tacoma, but after driving it… yikes. I couldn’t imagine dailying it. My wife hated the seats, the seating position and how claustrophobic the cabin felt. I was more bummed by the fuel efficiency, and old-ass drivetrain, not to mention the price.

Anyway, big fan of how the Ranger drives, and all the extras this truck has. It’s got the right get up and go, and you can’t deny the tow/haul numbers compared to the Taco.

In the future, I’m likely to give it a lift/level, switch to a beefier wheel and tire, and maybe consider an RSI SmartCap for our adventures. For now — I’ll enjoy my new toy for all the reno crap we have to do.

Hello, My name is Greg. I purchased my Ranger on December 14th. It is a 2020 Lariat Scab 4X4 501A, FX4, Sport Appearance, Running Boards, Towing Package. I have been wanting one for a while and finally pulled the trigger. My last Ranger was a 2003 Edge which I traded in for an F150 back in 2010. I missed it ever since. I still have an F150 (2020 Lariat Super Crew 4X4) but I absolutely love my Ranger!

Greetings,

Just joined as well, having bought my Ranger last November.

I'll admit when Ford reintroduced the Ranger, I was skeptical of the engine. But, well, yeah... now I love it! The transmission is not my fav but it works.

I'm not a big "bells & whistles" kind of guy so the XL was just fine and I got a pretty good deal on my STX 4WD. Came with towing package and the rear locking diff. I'd rather have that than power seats (given the choice).

It's my daily driver and I plan on using it for some easy overlanding trips. I've already put Bilstein B8 5100's on the rear and an Old Man Emu ~2.5" lift on the front. Swapped tires for BFG K02 255/70-17. Really enjoying it now and get lots of compliments on the color.

Anyway, glad to be here and I look forward to learning and sharing in the future.

Kind regards
