Hey all! New member here, just stopping by to say hi and share some pictures of my ‘new-to-me’ 2019 Ranger with 60k miles.

I drove a 2000 Ranger XL (manual) for over 10 years, but I’ve been driving cars for a while now. I'm finally back in a Ranger, and I couldn’t be more excited!

She is used, originally from New York and was purchased from a Toyota dealership here in Texas. I wish I knew what all has been done to her. From what i can tell:
  • The Auto Start-Stop seems to be disabled somehow. The little ‘@’ symbol on the dash comes on/off at red lights, but the engine keeps running.
  • I believe that Larger wheels and tires were installed, but they rub when turning sharp so that was never addressed.
  • The front-end seems like it might have been lifted or leveled? The brake lines are zip-tied in place with loose body clips still on the line, and it just doesn’t look stock.

The only thing I’ve started doing to it is replacing the stock intrusion bars with Readylift bars to fix the turning clearance issue. I've only replaced the driver side front and it was a pain in the neck. I am trying to do it one bar at a time because this truck is my daily driver and I still need to get places. I'm also NOT removing the front bumper and i think that is what is slowing me down so much.

  • One thing I can’t figure out is the driver-side door keypad. When I press the buttons, nothing happens—no lights, no response. It came with a card that has a code on it, but entering the code doesn’t trigger anything either. At some point, I’ll probably swing by a Ford dealership and let them take a crack at it.
  • Another small issue is the gauge cluster cover seems dirty from the inside. I need to figure out an easy way to remove the cluster and clean the backside of the plastic cover.

Other than that, she rides great (a little bouncy, but in a fun way), and she already has a few scratches so she’s nicely broken in.

Looking forward to getting to know y’all and sharing the journey with this Ranger! -PY

Welcome Michael.

It does look like the front has been leveled from your picture. If the ASS has been disabled the truck may have a tune or the auto stop/start (ASS) has been turned off another way.

As for the door keyboard I don't have one so can't give you any ideas. Stick around and you'll find a bunch of ways to spend money to lighten that wallet.

Welcome to the forum. The door keypad may have a dead battery so it won't operate. Some people have taken them apart and replaced the battery but I'm not sure about how to do that without damage to the keypad. Good looking Ranger by the way.

Welcome to a great forum Michael. Definitely looks levelled and the ReadyLIFTs are a good choice.

It appears to be early 2019 production with the aluminum knuckles - important to know in case you ever replace certain front suspension parts. The tailgate letters are an aftermarket item, as are those side vents (Air Design). Looks like it originally had the chrome package - looks good with those black wheels though.

Your ASS might be disabled by an aftermarket module or simply is not engaging for not meeting one of the dozens of conditions that must be met before it will, including a failing battery, which would make sense on a 2019.

Your keypad battery is prolly dead. If you don’t intend on using it, EVER, you can remove it easily and there are no wires to worry about. Having the dealer program these is stupid expensive - search the forum for replacing the keypad battery if you really want the feature.

If your tailgate lowers slowly on its own, it has an aftermarket tailgate assist device, also called a damper. If that’s the case, take the truck back to your dealer and demand a complete refund. ;)

Not to mention atrophy problems from using the damper...?

Thank you for the response and all great information here!
  • Thanks for the tip on the aluminum knuckles, i am sure it will come in handy at some point.
  • I am not a fan of the letter inserts so i plan on removing them (without damaging paint hopefully)
  • I believe your correct on the original chrome package. It looks like the door handles were chrome but they have black caps over them. I am a big fan of the black look so personally, I'm glad the previous owner did it.
  • I would have never imagined that the keypad is wireless and has a battery. Looking at the forum, I do see some posts about replacing the battery and some people re-locating it (including behind gas cap). It is too bad you have to fully remove it from the paint to replace the battery. I will try to remove it during the summer when its hot out and if i can get it working with a new battery, I will relocate it behind the gas door as well to keep it out of sight.
  • No dampers here. Just cables supporting the tailgate ?
Thanks again for all the insight—it’s super helpful!
