Sorry Jay - my parents had a similar situation in Florida back in the 80s. Their house was built on a concrete slab (no foundation, basement or crawl space) but they had to tear up the slab and re-pour it since the heat of the fire ruined the strength of the concrete. They ended up rebuilding but it is quite an ordeal to replace literally EVERYTHING you own. Although insurance treated them well, they still lost a lot of money. The one bright spot was the car in the garage - it was burned beyond recognition so they had to give them high blue book for it..... :)

I hope things go well in the rebuild and you can get back home soon.
Thanks Rob. As unfortunate as it all is, I am going to end up in a new, and much better house when it's all said and done. I am definitely going to be out some money, but it's only money.

I'm very happy Ranger wasn't involved. Insurance was a big fight on that, and much of the extras/mods are uninsured because Canadian insurance is such a scam. Plus, it's almost done and the way I want it after almost two years. I don't want to have to do it all again.

Wow Jay glad you and the pups got out unharmed! I worked (sub contracted) for one of the largest fire and restoration companies when I lived back east and saw my share of fires. I've seen some crazy ones but one that sticks in my mind was the kids burned the house to the ground lighting lady bugs on fire. ? They made a tent in their room from blankets and were lighting them under it and it caught fire and the whole place went up.

He also had a temporary housing business so he could bring mobile homes to the site so people could live on their property while it was under construction. I know all policies are different but like you I had full replacement value on my truck (and my house) and it saved my butt! I hope you get your life back to normal soon and while it's an inconvenience (who am I kidding it's a royal PITA!) thanks God you had your dog to wake you and get out of there. Good luck and I hope the construction goes smoothly for you.
Thanks Dave! I considered getting a trailer parked on site for temp living, but with insurance covering all temporary costs, a rental house was fast and easy. Plus the dogs are high energy, and highly active running and wrestling all day. They are loving the completely open full basement, and main floor. Based on the noise they make around here, one would think there are a dozen of them running around, lol. Being off work for the summer, is really making things easier now. I have lots of free time to meet with contractors and officials as needed.

Sorry to hear this. Insurance saves from the worst.
Been there myself unfortunately.
With 1 dog. She went mentally crazy after fire and was put to sleep.
Thanks Kristina, and sorry for your loss. Dogs are among the best parts of life, the only drawback being they aren't here long enough. It's so much worse when they go early.

Kyuss is crazy too, but I can't blame the fire, lol.

Thank you and good luck getting new home up fast and smooth. Good insurance is a “must be” and we never can count to find everything in our lives the same tomorrow as it is today.

Sorry you went through this.
As a previous volunteer firefighter over 10yrs ago, I have seen the devastation this does to families. I'm happy no one was hurt.
It just astounds me though how long the process can be to move forward.
I understand there's a lot of i's to dot, and t's to cross, but its still too long in my opinion to get people back home on their property.
I recall one family who parked 2 fifth wheels in the driveway to live out of with a vestibule of sorts between them, instead of moving to a hotel or a rental home.

We are almost a year and a half past the Marshall fire that destroyed over 1000 houses.

Many lots are still empty, most are just starting to rebuild, only a handful are movEd back in. Those poor people first got fucked by a cult, then their local governments and insurance companies. Sad.
