I found one fried like that in my mother's home - in the main circuit panel box! He came in at the base where the main feeds entered the box and immediately crossed the power line where it connected to the bus. He became the fusible link!

Holy crap the soyboys are going to get people killed.

The engine harness was one thing but brake lines are another. Furthermore all 6 lawsuits about the engine harnesses were dismissed and the manufacturers refuse to do anything. I could imagine them doing the same here too. The article says they just spout "Garage your vehicle". What A-holes.

Bought a used 2021 XLT last November. This spring I noticed that my roll of TP secured in the door pocket was being chewed. Winter was -34C so I don't think that they could have survived inside. Put down some sticky traps and caught 4 adult mice living in my truck. Not sure how they got in, or what they lived on, but could not find any damage or nests. Hope that's the end of them but the sticky traps will remain. Are their any holes in the cabin big enough to let them in, or did they come in though an open door?

There are 2 primary ways into the cab that we know mice have used.

1 - Through the two air intake openings under the plastic cowl cover on the passenger side of the firewall.

2 - Through two cabin vents behind the back seats.

Check your air filter and box below the filter. then remove the cabin filter and look in there. then lift the back seats and check in that area, and maybe remove the top of the back seats just in case.

All of these areas have seen damage by mice.

Yeah and you can fix this with some hardware cloth pretty easily.

I also glued magnets in an Altoids tin, put cotton balls soaked in peppermint extract in it and stuck it by the battery, where mice previously chewed my headlight wires. And wrapped as much of my harness as I could with Honda's chili pepper tape.

Yeah, I changed the oil a month or so ago in 2005 Ranger, and when I raised the hood I found this! The rascal chewed the hood insulation right at the apex of the fan shroud...
All because I left the truck parked in my paved driveway in front of the garage instead of in the garage for 2 weeks. I was cleaning and rearranging the garage layout.

The rascal found the truck very quickly. I saw him run out from under the truck when I fired it up and scurry across the concrete. He ran like a bat out of hell to the woods!

All I gotta say is wait until they somehow manage to get into your cabin air filter box and make a nest in there. Only way I figured that out was it sounded like a playing card in a bicycle wheel when we were kids. Traced the sound, opened up the filter box and literally pulled out a basketball size pile of shredded nest.

Block the air inlet ports with 0.25 gauge wire mesh. Many here have done this. Cheap and effective. I also blocked the cabin ports behind the seats. No way in the cabin now!

that helped there. Though reading this thread I’m looking for the other entry points listed in the replies. I found the start of a nest under my back seat in those storage well areas.

I did too…iI put a tomcat rat block in there….no trouble since then …
