A dealer I spoke to has two "used" Broncos exactly like this on their lot marked up $30k. Ford has too many orders and won't send them dealer stock so they bought them back from customers of custom orders, paid the customers $15k over what they paid for them before they even drove off the lot.

They tell people they're marked up $30k because they DO NOT want to sell them, they want them for people to check out and test drive. Put in a custom order and they'll give you sticker price. Same thing is probably happening here with this Maverick.
Makes a lot of sense

Except that those order banks are closed now, too, and you would have to wait until August(?) to order a 2023 for some time next year…

This showed up in myfeed. Huge over mark.

Saw a $15k markup on a Lariat Tremor that had the truck just under $70k out the door after tax

Would love to walk into that dealer and ask if it’s available still. If a yes then I would whip out an A plan card and say, let’s see the factory invoice. $200 over is all you’re getting. Write it up!

Nothing they can do. If they balk report to Ford for bait and switch tactics. Then it really hits the fan!
That was my thought... I did that with my Tremor last year and it was great....

Crazy. I recommend to anyone shopping around right now to try to stick it out for a while.

Ford currently has 53,000 vehicles sitting, complete, waiting on chips. When the chips become available most of this nonsense will stop, IMO.

If you take a minute to look at yourself in the mirror while complaining about the concept of supply & demand and being granted the freedom a free market provides... you'll see you look like this. Not a good look imo ?‍♀

That's the problem they don't care. Plus this will be the new normal and the days of dealers lots being full of inventory are gone. Why would Ford (or any manufacturer) over produce then have to have huge end of the year incentives just to get rid of inventory.

I hate to say it but it makes great business sense for them, work less and make more money. These dealers are making more profit now and selling less units and if people would stop buying at these ridiculous prices they'd be forced to come back down.
And lets not forget there not paying floorplan interest on all that lot stock (of yesteryear:crazy:), with a build to order system dealer has a lowered per unit cost.

There's a few left in the DC/VA/MD area, but you really have to search. All of them have a minimum $5K mark up. Someone would have to be really desperate. And/Or dumb. :frown:
I would say this about the paying over MSRP for anything. I saw an article that in January 83% of all new car sales were over MSRP. That just blows my mind. I bought my F-150 in December for $5k UNDER msrp. I just don't understand people. It's all crashing in now though, get the popcorn ready and watch this show unravel.

i wonder if all the complete cars and trucks will be discounted when sold. I mean yes they may be untitled and "new" but i bet by the time the chips show etc. they will no longer be the current years model. that means depreciation right? :inspect:
