Ordered it back in August. Needed a new vehicle and traded in on the Ranger in November and told them to cancel it. They didn't, but they never sent me a VIN or anything else to track it. So I thought they did.

It arrived today.

They called asking if I would be nice enough to email them back and explain why I went with the Ranger instead of waiting for allocation issues, I did.

Now.. why the thread. Someone who has never seen a Maverick in person.. not even in passing has bought the one I ordered.

That is brave.. but they avoided a mark up on it doing so, according to what the sales guy could tell me.

So off to a good home it goes while I enjoy the less stressed out (engine and trans) and feels bigger inside to me Ranger.

I saw my first Maverick last weekend at Walmart. It's not a bad truck for someone who just needs to haul stuff around on occasion, the weekend warrior who does DYI projects or maybe someone semi retired and does small jobs. I can also see certain parts companies using these for deliveries and I think they'll sell a ton of them if they can get them out there. It's not something I would buy as I love my Ranger but if the Ranger gets much larger and approaches F150 size I could see myself giving these a look sometime down the road.

Per the sales dude who sold it to him/would have been my sales dude had I waited on the mav. He wasn't there when I showed up for the ranger. I said good luck selling it and he told me it was already sold and gave a bit of detail. Could be full of it? Maybe.

I got one on order after only seeing and sitting in one.

I didn't need another truck but wanted something that could do small tasks and not drink 3 gallons of gas on start up.

But..

Regardless of what the measurements say I feel like I have more room in the Ranger. Front and back seat (not counting weird storage places).

The extra ability isn't a bad thing when I got it for the same price of how I spec's the Mav. I only lost awd vs the 2wd I have now. Since it snows maybe one day a year. I am ok I think.

Salesman sounds like a dick. He has no business disusing anything about customers to another, no matter how trivial. Just seems kind of... gossipy

I had one salesman say to another customer (About my ranger order) "Smart choice, unlike that other guy going with 2WD, you'll need the 4WD".

Shoulda walked out but I was already near completion.

edit: The fact we both mentioned 2WD... Kinda weird.

True. I was almost in an STX until they let someone else test drive it while I was trying to close the deal. Dunno why but that bugged me and I walked out and ended up with the XLT from another dealership (where I had my order anyway)

Yeah I don't blame you. Reminds me, I should probably request my sales guy NOT let someone test drive my order when it arrives...

They're not supposed to let anyone drive a customer ordered vehicle only dealer stock ones. Now I'm not saying they wouldn't but most dealer (even bad ones) usually won't let this happen but I guess I would also be weary and make a phone call.

That is how I was able to sit in a Mav but not drive it. Someone else ordered it but was a few days from taking ownership.

I saw a couple so far, include one with some mods. I think it's got it's place , imo the only non truck thing about it is the frame and what that nets you. For it's target audience it perfectly capable.

I wonder if everyone else are going to start chopping up their cuvs to make these.

Apparently you've never met a salesman, let alone a car salesman. They are truly the scum of the earth.

My guess is he told the guy that bought it about me needing to trade in a busted up Hyundai ASAP, landing me in a Ranger. Oh no... An actual frame and more towing capability... Not that!
