I know this is an old post, however I recently had some resolution to the "lugging" I originally experienced and posted.
I recently pulled a small trailer up a large elevation change, and had symptoms of lack of power and truck went into limp mode displaying an orange wrench and displayed the engine light (throwing the code P0299).
I took my truck into the dealer and had that sorted. I was told the turbo actuator motor died. Since then, I believe my truck has been pretty good at not going into a higher gear than it should. Cruising around town at 50km an hour, it sits in 6th gear. prior it would jump into 7th or even the 8th gear! Fuel consumption has also improved from prior I believe.
Its still early, its been about 2 weeks since the repair. I've just noticed today that it hasn't given the usual lug and higher gear than the usual. Ill have to confirm and pay attention in the the upcoming weeks regarding the driving experience and repost if any one is interested.
All the best,
