Order one without the bezel, should be arriving today. Any good pointers on removing the grill without breaking the locking tabs? Always makes me a bit nervous
Great question Mike,

I learned when doing mine that the instructions included with the grille are not very clear when it comes to the tabs. When they say to depress the tabs they are correct, but what they do not say is that you depress the center of the tab. I used a small flat head screw driver and pressed down on the top of that tab in the center toward the front of the truck. This will release the tabs so they can easily be removed. You should be able to see how the tabs work on the new RTR grille. They work just the same as the factory if memory serves me correctly.

I broke one of mine, but also found that the tabs are not part of the bezel. They are actually part of the factory center grille you are replacing. If one breaks it does not affect the installation of the new grille.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this.

Any non lariat ranger owners out there that have installed LED's to match color of this grille's LED's?
Would love to see some pics and know which lights you went with

Well I just pulled the trigger on one of these bad boys.
Took a couple of guesses at a promo code including the previous code "still 20" and a hopeful "covid19".
Surprisingly, i guessed "RTR10" and it worked! 10% off.
So if anyone else is looking to buy I would give that a try (RTR15 and RTR20 did not work).

Thanks for the clarification! Got delivered yesterday and saw that the tabs are part of the grill itself, not the bezel, like you mentioned. So I'm not that worried about breaking the OEM tabs now. May try to install it today, but thunderstorms are in the forecast, so may have to wait until tomorrow. Will post pics when done

Installed it yesterday. Pretty straight forward. However, Couldn't get the passenger side to illuminate. Checked the connections, terminals were fine, reconnected everything, still no luck. Not sure what the deal is. Maybe I got a faulty LED/Wiring harness?

Looks awesome Mike. Hope you get the lighting issue figured out.

Did my tips on removing the OE grille help?

They did, thanks! Still haven't figured out the lighting issue. Submitted a support issue with RTR, have't heard back yet

Update: RTR sent me a replacement LED. Now just hope I don't break any tabs taking the grille back off....

I used Forscan over the weekend and changed the DRL settings to include the running lamps, so now the RTR grill lights are on when the DRLs are on. Previously they were only on when the headlights were on or if I turned on the running lamps manually.
DO you remember what you changed to do this? Changed DRL to include the front turn signal/light?

Yep, I can't remember the exact setting, but there was an option to enable parking lights with DRLs. Enabling that setting makes it so the RTR lights are always on. I'll check later to see exactly what the setting option was.

RTR is having a 20% sale on 11/27 for Black Friday in case any of you have been waiting. It’s a 1 day only sale. I’m still not sure if I want to buy the grille but it’s a strong temptation.

Finally finished this tedious (and pricey) mod to my RTR grille. It took a while to finalize the design, lots of very careful cutting, took it to get paint-matched, created a wiring harness (first time using Deutsch connectors), relocated my ACC relocation kit (so lights weren’t blocking ACC module), then wired them into my cab switches. They are Rigid Industries SR-L amber/white Spreader Series pod lights. Dual-switch for amber accent lighting, white super-wide floods, or both. I’ll probably mount the RTR emblem on the lower mesh under the far right light pod.

Also, the Rigid light bezels are removable for paint-matching, so they are Absolute Black as well.
