Text Messages

Question...when I receive a new text message to Sync 3 screen pops up to say I have a new message. I hit read, Sync reads me the message but the screen saying the message is there stays until I hit close. Is this normal?

Mine will hold there after reading (or having been read aloud to me) for a few seconds, maybe 5-10 seconds, long enough for me to think I need to hit the close button, but then it'll go away on it's own. Maybe you're not waiting long enough?

how do you active the read text? I have an iPhone 8. I haven't played with the sync much. I did upload my phone book. I never plug my phone in unless I need the gps. I guess some features don't work on bluetooth.

I never plug my phone in, since it makes it crash trying to start Android Auto which I don't want, only connected via Bluetooth. I have an Android, so maybe it's an iPhone thing? I think it's also an allowed permission thing in the message app as well. That'd be the first thing I'd check.

My android did it in my '14 focus but it wasn't activated in my '16 fusion.

On your iPhone make go into Bluetooth, select Ford Ranger, then touch the little i in a circle to the right and turn on "show notifications".

Slightly different question, when Sync reads a text message to me, the volume is lower than I would like. I usually have to read the message at the next light. If I am plugged in, the android auto reads it and is suitably loud so the only time It really bothers me is when I don't plug in, typically short trips around town. Is there a way to increase the volume of the message without increasing the radio volume too?

Turn up the volume AS Sync is reading the message. It should save that volume level for the next message. Or when using for a phone call.

Did you get a resolution to this? Mine does the same and stays displayed until I close it. I've left it displayed for 30 minutes before I gave up.

Nope. Still does the same thing. Won’t go away until I hit close. Kinda’ annoying.

Yepper, kind of. Even more annoying is that others seem not to have this little issue.
