Hello everyone

Had mice chew up the wires to the evap system on top of the tank. Is it easier to tilt the bed up or drop the fuel tank out? Not sure if there is enough slack in light harness and grounds. If anyone has lifted a bed off one of these any heads up would be great.
Damn mouse got the wires to the a/c clutch too perfect timing for this past run of 95* days.
It’s a 2022 Thanks

Here's a video of what's involved with moving the bed:

This looks easier: video of removing the gas tank(ROW Ranger)

I always hear about folks dealing with these little rat gremlins and it makes me appreciate the gopher snakes we have all over the property in hollister, and the many stray kitties we have at our apartment up here in the south western part of Oakland. Lucky enough to have no signs of these intruders.

if you have the room and/or the help to remove the bed to access the top of the tank is what I’ve seen more than once as the easiest route. Someone on here mentioned they did the bed R/R with some “well placed 2x4’s” and handled it solo.
Sorry the little gremlins got to your lines.
Hope the repair goes easy and inexpensive.

Not sure about the 5G Rangers, but I lifted the bed on my 4G Ranger to change the fuel pump. 6 bolts, 1 wiring harness back above the license plate, and 3 screws at the gas tank filler. Remove the tail gate and set it aside. Then remove the gas cap and if you don't have a way to lift the bed, pull it back 18"- 24" while lifting the back end above the bumper. Use 4x4's to sit it down on to avoid scratching the the bumper. That's the method a friend used to remove his enough to access the fuel pump.

I have a 2 post lift that I used to raise mine. I did exactly the same thing, but used 4 cargo straps over the lift arms attached to the tie downs in the bed. I had the bed up in 30 minutes. Took me 2 hours to complete the task.

Not sure about 5G Rangers, but this video showed 3 wiring connections at the back of the bed that had to be disconnected. That hoist is awesome!

These two guys lifted the bed off this F150. I would think the Ranger bed would be lighter.

Good luck.

BTW, I am fighting the mice here in NC as well.

I did that on my '99 also, but I was alone, had no lift, and had to remove the hard top too.
But I didn't have to completely remove the bed, just slid it far enough backwards to get access to the fuel tank.

The dealer had to drop the tank for a pressure sensor on my truck. It took several hrs on a lift to take it out and put it back together. I would probably back up on some ramps with the back wheels and go from there.

I wouldn't know if they did. I turned off the Nanny bells in Forscan. I wear my seatbelt, and it is annoying when travelling and the wife unbuckles to get something behind the seats.

Had a 99 f150 the fuel pump went out on.
Factory bed bolts corroded and I think 1 or 2 actually came out. I ground the heads off and me and a few friends lifted the bed off and got the bolts out with pipe wrenches.

I then went to the hardware store and replaced them with large "lag or deck" bolts, nuts and washers on top and bottom.

Pump went out again a few years later. And that changing the bolts turned an 8 hour job into a 2 hour job.

My 2005 Ranger is a southern garage queen. Pulling the 6 bolts was easy, but 2 of them had signs of rust. I cleaned the threads on all of them, then applied heavy grease to them and tightened them down when reinstalling the bed. Drove the truck several hundred miles to let the bed settle and torqued them again. Drove several hundred more miles and went to torqued them again, but simply got a click this time around. 20 years from now they should not be any worse when I will the truck to my great grand kids.
