Anyone found letters to apply to the lariat on the fender vents? It's the last bit of chrome I an trying to get rid of.

You could swap the vents, use plastidip paint or apply vinyl decals. With all the chrome bits that come with Lariat it seems like a lot of work. I would have liked a gunmetal finish myself.

You could probably just get a small rectangle of vinyl, apply it over and smooth it down and you'd see the outline of the letters. Then carefully trim with a razor or X-acto knife.

That is not for the lariat letters

Obviously I needed more than that this morning! :headbang:

I wonder if you call them if the can make a set for the Lariat? When I was back east I had a shop make me vinyl lettering for one of my work vans so this should be easy for them to do.

If you don’t find what you want from commercial sources, maybe you or someone could paint over (or cover) the selected areas by hand, in one or more (multiple ?) colors, materials, and possibly using items that you already have on hand ? I can imagine several choices, and then let go the artist in you, with durability in mind.

So, after choosing a paint or other suitable surface material color, texture (gloss, matte, other) and on a low humidity, 73oF, calm wind day or using whatever instructions you receive, prepare the surface with a thorough cleaning, and maybe mask off unattended areas.

Take your time And be safe and careful. If not sure, try first on only one side using cellophane or whatever substitute to practice.
Then, See how it looks.

Are you satisfied with results ?

Consider listing your project intentions first, with This forum, Before setting up your task.
There are many experienced people here. I suggest that you Be PATIENT and be ready for various types of responses. I believe that the value of information found on this forum is Vast.

When you can afford the necessary materials and focus ample time, apply the surface upgrade as the situation warrants and let it cure in shade, typically, for at least 6 hours.

I Rarely think that luck is a measurable factor on the results.

I tend to believe that first, it is about thinking & planning your project through, from beginning to end, And beyond*…

…*AND have a Plan B And even a Plan C physically and mentally ready, during full project life.

Expecting perfection can be self defeating.

But, achieving it can and Does Happen, or al least sort of.

Yeah !

…and if it does happen, it can be remarkably rewarding.

I try to Not assume too much or too little, as it helps reduce anxiety during the learning experience.

Most detailed plans that succeed May have value with sharing and Help with fellow forum members, especially those with intermediate project update photos. Even those that Fail are valuable, at least to me. In other words, keep your camera handy and use it with descriptive purpose and clarity.

Taking credit for success and taking blame for failure is going to happen, absolutely, as it will. I also think that getting the efforts distillation may be the ultimate upgrade.

Or not.

These suggestions are from a project manager with a serious dose of Me.
