considering adding some L track to the bedsides and at the cab rail. needing additional tie downs due to decked system. I am targeting mounting in the clouded area in pic, seems to be a substantial frame member. feedback appreciated. will either use self tapper tek style screws, or do rivnuts / nutserts.

I honestly dont think it is a good idea to set it up on the bed itself. Why you ask? Well due to tue Aluminum bed certain things like the bed wall are not as strong as we would like. There is a member who mounter a high lift jast to the side and it more or less ripped the bed.

With that said I am aware that Decked has approved thier system to have L-track mounted to it so that may be a better idea for you.

Only way I'd be comfortable doing what you are proposing is to first mount something structural, like unistrut that is attached every 6 inches or so.

This will add significant rigidity to the bed side wall. Even then bed side rails are not that strong as you can see below and ratcheting something side to with the tailgate down is just asking for problems.
