I found that pure performance makes 2 different suspension kits for our trucks. I can't find much info on them online. Does anybody have any experience or knowledge about this brand? I'm seriously thinking of ordering one of their kits but then I see the BP 51 suspension from EMU looks like its going to be released soon since the BP 51 shocks for the ranger are on 4wp parts website and car id. I'm also having a hard time finding any info of when the full BP 51 kit will be available.

I can't speak for Pure Performance is this is the first time I have heard of them. As for the old man emu suspension I can tell you right now it is well worth the price you pay. I just have the basic standard load suspension with the Nitro charge shocks. I've had it on for quite a few months now and I've already put on over 10,000 miles with the suspension and I really love the road manners it provides that have been cleaned up and the off-road capabilities are much better. When I'm off road I feel I have more control with just that suspension alone. Obviously there are more things I can do to my truck that make the off-road experience better I just haven't gotten there yet. Would the BP 51 shocks be better than the current sets I have right now? Most likely yes but I think what I have works just fine for now. The real question is what are you looking to do? Are you looking to go off-road all the time or every once in awhile? Or are you just looking to stay on the street only and wants something to help you grip the pavement better? These are really the questions we would like answered to help you out. Be aware most everyone here will mention other kits like BDS or Fox and try and make you do a leveling kit instead.

Right now I don't do too much off roading, but I want to go for a slight overland build. In a year or too when my kids get a little bit older, I'd like to get a roof top tent and go out on the weekends, but right now my younger son is at that age where everything is a hassle. So I'm looking for something that rides really nice on road but you can take off the beaten path on the weekends. Ive narrowed it down to a few but the pure performance and bp-51 really caught my eye. When I was trying to look up info on the pure suspension I found a quote from a guy who ran it on his non ranger and this quote fit me perfectly what I'm looking for. Rides like a caddy but can handle off road

I will add that one of my coworkers drove my truck with the Old Man EMU suspension and said that it has a nice balanced feel to it. Here are some pictures of it.

With that being said I would definitely suggest the standard load old man emu lift kit. The road managers are very nice and you can definitely take it off road without having to worry too much. It gives you the right amount of clearance overall for off road biggest thing I liked about the kit is that it replaces the rear leaf springs in order to get extra clearance in the rear versus blocks or shackles. With doing such YouTube get more travel for the rear wheels so you have more flexibility. Mind you I'm up here in Colorado and I have had no major problems yet with the suspension.

If that kit had monotubes instead of the twin tubes, I'd probably have it already. Thats why I'd like to wait for the bp51 kit if its gonna come out soon because I really like the emu leafs. I still have alot of research to do, but i greatly appreciate you sharing your experience. Does your leafs with that kit rest on the factory bumpstops at all when towing, especially the car trailer?

I wouldn't say they rest on the bump stops when towing. Thankfully the leafs are not weak at all. Last month I towed about 5,500 lbs and it did well. I'm glad i went with this kit. Also i can understand wanting to go with monotubes vs twin tubes but be aware. The reason Old Man EMU has twin tubes is quite simple. If the shock is to get hit by a rock on The outside(most likely possible offroad) a twin tube will most likely work with no major issues but a monotube could have an issue with the body bending inward and the shock not being able to travel all the way.

Still your choice on what you do but that is my suggestion especially if you aren't looking to go too crazy offroad.

Do you have a link to this old man emu lift kit that replaces the leaf springs? I was looking to install the standard load rear shocks on my stock setup. I have it leveled with pro comp spacer kit. I definitely want a better ride on and off road so I was going to do the emus on the rear and maybe the Eibach pro truck coilovers on the front. What do you think vs the emu lift kit you have installed?

In my opinion if you want to go with old man email I suggest you try and match the entire suspension. The best way to think about it is that old man emu design their whole suspension to work as one unit. If you end up putting old man emu Parts in the rear and another brand up in the front there is a chance you can have a ride that isn't as nice as you want. I can't speak for eibach much just because I have never ridden in a truck with it. I know that others have been impressed with the eibach kit when matched both front and rear. I myself run old man emu on both front and rear and I love it. Ask for a link just go onto stage 3 Motorsports. Com. They can help you out there.

I've had my eye on the Old Man Emu rear leafs, but I don't necessarily want to raise the rear another 1.5". I do know, however, that I want to eliminate the factory rear leaf as it is not the best off road. I have my eye on this new release by APG. I may go this route in combination with the Fox 2.0 kit.

For those not looking to lift I will agree that the APG would be a great option.

Very valid points...I’m going to pick one soon (Eibach or Emu). I installed that Mishimoto oil catch can today for what it’s worth. I’ve read and read opinions about that and since I tend to keep vehicles for the long haul, I figured it couldn’t hurt. I want the extra power from a tuner but want to get her ready first. As mushy as this suspension is there is no way I put more power to her without stiffing up the ride/handling first. BTW...I about sick of this ash getting all over my vinyl wrap! I’m so over the smoke too!!!
Thanks for the input on suspension brother Frenchy....

No problem. If you ask me the Old Man EMU is well worth the price including install. If you are familiar with Freemont Pass I had trouble with it when the truck was stock. With Old Man EMU I no longer have the issues with handling. Eibach may be similar but you dont get the raise in the rear for offroad clearance(big thing in my opinion).

Here is my truck.

Love that color! Did yours come with those Dueler tires? I’m bummed I spent money on the spacer kit to level instead of at least a coil over lift. If only money grew on trees...lol
I’m headed out to Meaker/Craig next weekend for elk hunting 2nd rifle. I’m sure my Ranger will have some stories to tell when I get back.

No they did not come with those tires. It did have Bridgestone Dueler RH-S tires and they were not suitable for offroad. The Revo 3's do pretty well offroad. As for snow you would be better off with something else.
