I have been a long time Toyota truck driver, typically buying older models and doing a lot of my own wrenching, but after my last long road trip, and my 08 tacoma really having a ton of repairs in need, I took the plunge and picked up this used 2019 Lariat last week, really a fun truck! As I said, not as familiar with newer vehicles or Fords for that matter, so any suggestions or things to look out for, please let me know. I get out an camp and explore a lot with my dog, so I really hope this can be a good adventure vehicle I can have for a long time.

Welcome! Awesome Ranger! Love the wheels with the Magnetic body color.

Welcome! With those existing mods, the previous owner just might have been a ranger5g.com member. Did the guy you bought it from look anything like this?

EDIT: Updated photo to include names…you can’t tell the players without a program, right?

Welcome. Nice wheels. I did the same thing as you, bought a low mileage lease return and saved $13K. Ive done the auto start/stop eliminator, wireless charger, wireless AA, some bed hooks and a tool box. My HVAC clicks so I'll get that into the dealer soon. I did get a 4 year ESP plan from Granger that helps. I'm going to need the DPFE soon but I have two in stock. The trans shifts rough every now and then, and there is a lot of drivetrain slop. I just hate working with dealers and their BS. In due time.
Love that color! I feel like I got a pretty good deal, put a nice chunk down, and financed the remainder, I did not opt for the extended service plan, which I go back and forth on, mostly due to the packages this place had were all quite expensive, I have a local mechanic who I have used for my previous vehicles so I will likely use them for this one, always a bit of a dice roll though.

It was less than half what the dealer wanted. They are forum members. Lots of us have taken advantage of their deal. I've never bought an auto extended warranty until I bought the Ranger.

Well, if I was going for cool I would have linked to rotopax. Everyone knows those things add at least 10whp Everytime they are used.

Looking at some of the gas prices out in the flat tops, it might be an addition I make after sliders, bumpers, camper and tires.

Speaking of tires, what size tires should I go with if I don't want to lower my gas mileage, but I want to be the coolest guy at the mall? ? ? ?

@PNWPIK another vote for Granger. they make the process super easy and very (relatively speaking) inexpensive. definitely worth it if you plan to keep the truck a long time. Just keep in mind that the warranty start from the original in-service date, not the date you bought it.

I believe the blend door is a common problem on the 19’s. I would watch out for fuel in oil but people on here have all different opinions on that. The only other thing is the transmission. But with only 36k you are probably good for another 50-60k miles before it becomes and issue. I’d highly recommend extended warranty if that’s an option (don’t know how the ford extended works on used) On the bright side you get quite a few things that have been deleted after 19. Shift lights, hood struts, I think tie downs got deleted later on too. If you have mice around you or live near/in a wooded area id recommend you read through the nice thread as quite a few of us have had issues and have come up with solutions.

Finally got to check these out, far more affordable than what the dealer was asking, out of curiosity any real reason to go for the plans over the base, which seems to cover most of the major components

spend once, cry once.

Personally, I got the premium care because if I'm going to get a warranty then I want it to cover as much as possible. Mostly because of Murphys law... whatever your warranty doesnt cover is what is going to break...
