Look at the bright side, you were able to make it happen. You will be happier. Our last move was not what we planed on but we made it happen and are much happier. :)
So true Larry and you never know until you try. I think if we moved straight down to GV I would've always wonder what it would've been like to live here in AR. It's a beautiful area and the people are really nice but it just didn't work out for us. We need more sunshine and these storms and gloomy days are just to darn depressing.

Good thing I kept my Boomer shorts. o_O

A few pictures of the house finished. The photographer did a great job and the house did turn out well but there was so much we just didn't get that we really wanted. My neighbor says the couple love it so at least I made someone happy with their home.

What really sucks is you had to pay for something you didn't want or ask for.

Dave,
So Sorry for the house problems.
It's sad that when you have major growth as around here that you get anyone that picks up a hammer and starts building. My daughter and son-in-law have been in court for 2 years trying to settle on their first new house here. The builder was a sleaze bag. They're out over 75k on fixing issues. He had several houses like that in the works, and he left the country!

Being a retired E.E. I know the electrical construction problems around here. My house is 8 years old and I had to rewire a third of it, even though it past Springdale city code. I don't like daisy chain electrical outlets. i have always pigtailed each opining. Arc flash breakers are okay but having lights on the same circuit as the receptacles is confusing to me. A device trips in outlet, and you are in the dark during nighttime. I won't go into the plumbers as they are bottom feeders to me.

Again, sorry to see you go.

P.S. my nephew lives a 1/4 mile from the new house you have shown.

Thanks Bill. It's sad these people can get away this stuff and while I wont say it dint happen back in MA (it did) it wasn't as common as I've seen here and in AZ. Luckily you were able to fix your own electrical because most can't and that along with plumbing are on the top of must haves when looking for a good contractor. Sorry to hear about your daughter's troubles and I just don't know how these people sleep at night knowing they screwed over good people like this. I do believe in karma and they will get theirs in the end.

Wow, Dave that is a horrible experience, but the main thing is you and Annie be happy with the final outcome. Enjoy your new home.!
Thanks brother! I sure hope this one goes better. lol

On our last trip I was telling Annie what really stinks is you just never know how a house will be until you live in it. It's the biggest purchase you'll make and you're rolling the dice with it. It's not like a vehicle where you can test drive it and get a feel for it. The Camry we rented is a perfect example. I've been looking at them for some time and rented it for our last trip (a month) and was able to test it in all conditions for 3,000 miles. To me that was $800 well spent. šŸ™‚

Well, that really is quite a story. I’m not saying it’s not true but Dave certainly left out some details. You see, it’s partly my fault that he had to leave AR. That’s why I offered up my real estate services at 0% commission.

You might have seen my sign…

and Bill @fob63 ), you must have seen some of the 50-odd signs Larry (@Blue Streak ) put up…you did remember to put them up, right Larry?

IMG_5644.webp

I even went all out with a realtor.com listing…

IMG_9770.webp

You see, it all srted when I got a PM from the Governor. She had heard some big shot tailgate damper CEO from the Ranger5g forum was moving to the state and wanted to put on some fancy welcome dinner for Dave. She has a Ranger too and contacted me through the forum to ask me a bit about him.

I told her he was moving from AZ and that he’d be happy to change his handle, but that he was originally from Springfield. She said she thought it ā€œwas wonderful that he was moving back to the Springdale area.ā€ I corrected her and told her SpringFIELD! She said, ā€œthat’s still okay, we have lots of folks that move here from Missouri.ā€ I corrected her again and so, ā€œno Governor, not Springfield, MO…Springfield, MA.ā€

She didn’t seem too pleased…

IMG_0178.webp

She blurted out, ā€œARE YOU TELLING ME HE’S A YANKEE?ā€

That was the end of it - she’s ghosted me ever since. Apparently, she PM’d Dave and told him to pack up and leave the state.

I didn’t have room for him here and he’s banned half the forum members so his options were pretty thin. He was beside himself and almost inconsolable…

IMG_0154.gif

He eventually pulled himself together and contacted @P. A. Schilke who felt quite bad for him and said that he and Annie could bunk with them while they looked for a place in GV but that they’d have to stay in the RV garage, which was big enough but really, beggars can’t be choosers…

IMG_0269.webp

Anyway, part of the deal was that he’d have to clean up after Tito, which was a bit too much for Annie. That, and sleeping on the concrete floor was likely quite motivating, so they quickly found a place in GV and you all know the rest.

So, like I said, Dave’s post leaves out a few details that I thought were important enough to post here. His story is true but this one is truer…er. Yeah.

Hi Dave,

Looks like closing on the GV house is fast approaching! After things settle down for you, lets get to together! Give me a call if you have any questions on trades in GV, etc.

best,
Phil

It sucks that it didn't work out the way you'd planned, but if it all ends up with a solution that you're happy with, then so much the better. At least you know for sure that AZ suits you better than AK, and you won't have that endless question hanging over your head. And, your handle makes sense again.

Just an FYI to everyone the real reason I didn't hire Duke as a realtor was because I saw first hand what his work truck looked like.
