Btw...How's your new Jeep doing now that you've had it a couple weeks? Have you been able to take it off road yet?

The new Jeep is great. I've taken it on some back roads along the Sacrament River above Knight's Landing as a bit of a "shake down" ride. I immediately removed the rear seat when I returned to give me more room for the recovery, tool, and survival bags. (I had the rear seat out in the 2012 Rubicon also.) I have a couple to rides planned into the lower levels of the Sierras, depending on weather.

Been a lot going on lately and my bank account is crying. lol ?

Cabinets and countertops went in a couple weeks ago. I've never in 42 years of being in construction seen countertops go in before everything else is finished but hey, if somethings damaged it's on them.

We did have to change from out original selection of Quartzite (which was already $4K over budget) to Quartz. The builders wife made a huge mistake and sent the fabricators the original print to do the countertop quote from which a few things had changed. The new price was just under $7K which was way more than we wanted to spend on just countertops. She should've sent them the cabinet companies CAD takeoff which would've been dead on. Luckily we went back and found these which we really liked and were $500 under budget. I want to do a coffered ceiling in the great room and that money will be better spent there which I feel will really stand out more.

We went by yesterday and they were just finishing up the tile in the showers and the siding guys are almost done too. Hopefully they can finish today before the cold blast comes through this week.

We used the quartz for the bench seat & the corner shelves in the master shower and there's a niche behind the short wall.

Hall bath:

There's stacked stone going on the front wainscoting and will wrap around the sides about 2'. The front is all Hardy board siding and will get painted the siding color. I'll most likely do an accent color in the gable shakes after we move in.

Looks good. Don't worry about paint Dukes got that covered we plan on marking the house for the party.

Love the green paint on the lower level. And the garage curtain... very uh, thrifty!

You need to swap out that hall bathtub to a big whirlpool tub.....no way we're all gonna fit in that itty bitty tub during party time !!!!
Also add some shelves and can holders for the beer and munchies !!!

Hardie panel siding is awesome stuff - nice to work with and has a long life - reminder: paint only, never stain. Also, I’m pretty sure Dynaflex Ultra caulking comes in all the Hardie colours if you have to touchup any gaps or cracks in a year or so.

I sure do like how it’s coming together, Dave and I’m glad that coffered ceiling seems to still be in play.

Hardie panel siding is awesome stuff - nice to work with and has a long life - reminder: paint only, never stain. Also, I’m pretty sure Dynaflex Ultra caulking comes in all the Hardie colours if you have to touchup any gaps or cracks in a year or so.

I sure do like how it’s coming together, Dave and I’m glad that coffered ceiling seems to still be in play.

Thanks Duke! I had used the Hardy siding years ago on my barn. All the old siding was rotted and we stripped the roof and siding and did it all over. It was pre-primed grey and I painted it 2 coats and it still looked great 12 years later.

We really wanted to do the coffered ceiling (as you know from our texts) so we decided it was more important than the Quartzite. You have to draw the line somewhere!

All the trim/doors are there along with the millwork for the coffered ceiling. The mason is working on the fireplace wall now so once he's done I'm sure the trim guy will be along soon. After this crazy cold spell it's supposed to be mid 60's next week so he'll be able to do the stone work (along with the column bases) out front and the outside should be mostly done.

When I rebuilt those rotted out balconies at my place in Toronto, I used Hardie panel - a bit awkward and heavy for one guy to cut, hoist, and wrestle into place but the end result is worth it - good choice. I bought the tinted version and put two coats of paint on it - same colour. As exterior surfaces go, it’s a dream to paint - as smooth as Sheetrock. ?

Can’t wait to see that fireplace and millwork.

Thanks Chris but I need more than a bump, more like a swift kick. lol Things were going a little slow for a while so I had to light a fire to get my builder moving. We technically have until June 1st for the house we're renting but I know we can stay longer if need but we don't want to nor do I want to keep paying for it.

I guess it worked because the stonework is done (inside and out), the trim is all done, septic is done and the painters started last Monday inside and out. They have the outside done except for the front door which is getting a Walnut gel stain and the 2 columns still need to be trimmed out in Hardi Board. The inside was all prepped and in primer as of Friday and they said it should be completed this week. Flooring is getting delivered on Wednesday and the garage door installed Friday. There's still a bunch to finish but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel now. We're still hoping to be in around mid May. ?

The whole back yard is the septic but we'll at least have some pretty green grass.

Trim is done but I didn't want to take any pictures of it primed Friday because they were all working there still.

Besides the coffered ceiling the fireplace is my favorite! The mason did a great job on it along with the front of the house.

I thought all us house-warming party goers were going to do the mods....you know, like finger and hand printing the walls, signing our site names on the ceiling, splotchy floor designs with the spilled beer.......
