On the freeway doing 60 mph I hit passing gear to merge into another lane. Immediately after that it started running real rough with no power. I pulled off the road and after not being able to see anything obvious I call for a tow. (shout-out to the GEICO app)
Back ground, I bought the 2019 XLT new Nov 2019. I drive it easy and only 20700 miles. Not modded in any way. Never a single problem in 5 years!
My dealer diagnosed the problem within 24 hours. Basically it was a water, coil pack, spark plug problem. Not covered under warranty I have GEICO's mechanical breakdown Ins. and they will totally reimburse me. Shout out again to GEICO and my dealer!
I have included the shop description and a pic of the exploded spark plug coil pack assembly. They added the engine cover that It didn't come with.

Luckily, they got the plug out with a easy out , it does suck that Ford will not own this major issue and cover it. The water is the issue, and fords cover, and cowl design allows for this to happen.
I take it - since #1 & #2 cylinder affected - you park outside and nose down in the driveway,
the rainwater gravity flows in the valley and settles around the COP boots and seeps down into the plug well.
The engine cover they installed will NOT help this issue; the cover only helps (somewhat) for the #4 plug well.

You need to install a divertor for the rainwater along the plastic cowling (below the windshield) or it will continue to fill the wells with water. This is a KNOWN issue.

Thanks for the input. Does anybody make a drip tray for under the windshield?

No, not marketed but we have recently discovered that the 24 Ranger has an added cover over the HP Fuel Pump _ that may be the answer to temper down the HP Fuel Pump noise as well as divert the rainwater away from the engine.
I am waiting on this cover to arrive - for install

Some have made their own - with varied designs

So are the transmission and the heater box. Ford is so sure that they will continue to rake in cash from legacy customers that they couldn't care less.

I've had the water intrusion/misfire twice. First the front two cylinders, undrivable. Flat bedded to dealership, $350.00 a TSB and I got a free engine cover. On the way home misfire of back two cylinders, flat bed tow back to dealership and another $300 (plugs/coils they gave me a break). They never checked the rear spark plug wells. Test driving a Honda TrailSport tomorrow morning. Yes, I know it's not a "real" truck but I don't really need a "real" truck to drive in Atlanta traffic every day... and occasionally tow a 21' boat. Wife's CR-V has been bullet proof for 100K. There's a really good YouTube vid on the water intrusion.

I'm going to install the foam pipe insulation solution. I love this Ranger and will deal with the rainwater intrusion the best I can. Also it's garaged now so that will help.
BTW, it was parked outside nose slightly down hill for the first 4 years. Evidently that will do it as airline tech posted.

Go with the denser pipe insulation for a buck or two more. It will hold up better. Works great!

I believe some even come with stripe on them for a few extra HP...

I'm actually currently 3d printing something that may be an option for those with 3D printers. Should look a lot better than some pipe insulation. If the test fit works, I'll release the files to the wild for everyone

The other question is will the TPU hold up underhood. I know the things I've printed that I leave inside the truck in the summer hold up, so I have hope.

As a teaser.

It will attach to the two factory clips between the engine compartment felt and the metal, so the metal will be above and catch the water flowing down. It is wider than the head, so it should just drain off to either side. Hopefully not slap on top of a wiring connector.
