I have a 16y/o so I wish that was all mine was ?
When I was a teenager I got plenty of speeding tickets and I was paying a good 80% of my income to insurance and DMV surcharges. That bill would come and I'd feel it in my stomach.

Nh I have my Ranger My wife Kia, and a travel trailer for $1300 a year. I do have $250 deductibles though. It went up $100 for the year.or nearly 10% so ouch.
Those rates are pretty darn good. It's almost as bad here as it was back in MA. The only reason my Ranger went a little lower is because I added my Jeep and have the house all with Travelers. I almost passed out when they told me my Insurance for the Jeep was $1,800/yr! o_O It's a darn brick with wheels and they want $1,800 for it?

Stable for the time being (300 and Ranger - Erie).

For decades, I used State Farm to insure EVERYTHING. During a lengthy downward trend in auto insurance rates, I experienced a major(?) single vehicle crash that cost SF about $10,000 total(?). First chargeable accident in memory. Immediately placed in high risk pool, with rates going up every six months.

Even after I was removed from 'high risk', rates kept going up every six months with nothing else changing - same job, credit score, criminal record (lack thereof), residence, etc.

I finally got fed up and switched everything except homeowner's insurance.

Those bricks cost an aweful lot of money to drag out of the desert. Guys like this one ruin it for everyone else.

When shopping for insurance, never share what you are paying currently. Only share the coverage levels so you get an apples to apples quote. If you tell them how much you pay currently, the quote will always be less. Then the bait and switch action takes place at the 6 mth renewal.

Mine went up like $40 for the year. Devastating blow to my credit card for sure...

I had USAA for 13 years, no wrecks, no tickets, etc and it just kept going up and up. I was paying $330/mo or about $4000/year for my Truck and a Kia minivan. I shopped around and went with StateFarm and I am now paying around $1600/year. I asked USAA to look at my rate and that I had been using them my entire adult life without a claim, and they couldnt explain it nor did they seem to care what-so-ever that I was leaving.

Progressive is the same, gives me non answers and I've had them for decades. They told me rate increase reflected lockdowns ending but it's been going up before that.

I'm getting a quote from State Farm but they have that "beacon" they want to put in your vehicle to track how many burnouts you do, etc. Hopefully opting out doesn't kill the rate.

I declined the Beacon thing and it made zero difference in my quote. I am in my mid 30's if it helps. I got the quote through an independent agent first. My mom did have one of their beacon things and she frequently speeds, and generally drives erratically/insane and her rates have never increased. I think it's just to collect your data etc, but your phone is already doing that lol.

Same here. Between the ever increasing rates and them pissing me off after Hurricane Harvey on the home owners side (holding a grudge on that) - I'm probably switching to Geico soon. I tried to negotiate with them this week on my last renewal and it going up.. again; and they don't care. It is whatever price the computer spits out - end of story. I've been with them for 22 years with a single ticket 18 years ago and no at fault accidents.

Good to know. If it was honest I'd probably benefit from it since I am a pretty safe driver these days. But it's not.

Geico has been involved with providing speed detection equipment to law enforcement agencies.

They'll never get a penny of mine.

Whoa. Good to know before I switched. Also I need to remember to factor in USAAs Christmas time pay back stuff. Don't remember the exact name but they just apply it to my insurance bill.

Progressive has gone so mega-corp that I get a different agent replying to every email, except with the exact same copy-paste message. Guess I get to call and sit on a waiting line. They just respond with this over and over:

Our rates are based on the cost of doing business in the state and are adjusted to reflect regulatory requirements. This keeps our pricing fair and accurate for all our customers. When our costs increase, we need to adjust our rates to account for those increased costs in the state. When our costs decrease, we are able to pass those savings on to our customers in the form of lower premium. Please keep in mind that other carriers will experience the same trend.
