I received the tuner from

. The biggest PIA is downloading the 5 meg Tune to the controller, it didn't like Windows 10. I called Ford and the tech said I needed to go to the "S Mode" on Windows 10. I explored that rabbit hole and the S mode called for a credit card. I fired up my old desktop and downloaded the software and installed it on my Windows 10 computer. I connected the tuner and saved the stock tune and installed the Ford tune. Will report back tomorrow after a road test.

I have put about 200 miles and can say the Ranger is more of a Blast to drive!! It just seems so much smoother and the power is there in whatever gear your in.

Has the RPM parameters changed, does the engine still want to hang out around 1,000 RPM?

When I installed the FP tune on my Ranger it raised the cruising rpm to 1400 to 1500 rpm, it also made the engine feel happier running at that rpm. I now don't feel the need to lock out gears and I seldom feel the need to use tow mode. There is one situation when driving in traffic at around 30 miles per hour for extended periods the tranny will eventually up shift and put the rpm around 1200 which the engine is not happy at. This is when I hit the tow mode button.

After 5000 miles with the tune all the transmission quirkiness has worked it. It shifts smoothly and precisely up and down the range. The 3 to 1 down shift a lot of folks complain about is not even perceptible.
