Installed 589 mount with Superwinch on Tremor

@Colo_Ranger and @trpb that bracket JB3G-12B681-BB is not service released; not even in a larger assembly. That is an engineering part number. Adding to the story, it's name is 'Starter Glow Plug Control Bracket'. I assume it was originally released in the Asian Pacific market where there is a diesel engine option. So maybe it's available there, but I can't find any supporting documentation.

EDIT: just found out the bracket is manufactured in Pluak Daeng, Thailand. So... yeah.

I ended up making (well... a friend made) a bracket.

Okay some thoughts right off the bat...the directions SUCK... it mentions nothing about having to trim some of the panels directing air... looks like the whole lower panel directing air to the evaporator and rad you have to leave removed? I haven't gotten far enough to figure this one out for sure but I now see why it took the original poster hours and hours to get this installed.. Attached are a couple pictures of the first one you have to trim off about 2" of the entire bottom. the 2nd pic is the other piece directing air that looks like it has to be completely removed? (and this price is quite the pain to remove) Is that correct for anyone that has done this? the directions have Nothing about either one of this two issues. Im at step 3 on the 589 directions been working on it for about 3 hours so far.

I included a 3rd picture to show what needs to be trim on the passenger side as well

Hi Gordon,

I was able to reinstall the plastic lower shield. Trim the areas that interfere. Then use a heat gun to reshape the remaining plastic. This worked very well. But takes time and test fitting. For the side frame rails attachments I used heavy duty zip ties. This saved lots of time. I tried installing the original push pins. Wasn't going to happen. I think the plastic shield is very important as it helps trap and distribute airflow.

This was one of the many items to be figured out on this installation.
I completely agree. The 589 mount instructions leave a lot out.

Good find. Your information will save others time in not trying to order a non available part. Just make your own bracket from the get go.

Walter Thanks for that info...really glad to hear you were able to get the bottom shield back on, I 100% agree I think it really important for air flow. for anyone getting this...the instructions are the 10,000 foot view, there are lots of things to figure out on your own... and if Im being completely honest I probably would not have bought this because I HATE hacking up my truck for an aftermarket part... but I'm committed now because of all the cost. Okay off to finish up extending the control box wiring... I did increase the size of all my wiring to 2GS AWG. stock wires were 4ga AWG....

As I recall. I made two different bends to the plastic shield. But it really did come out great. Where you show possible cut lines looks correct.
Yes, the 589 mount leaves a lot to be desired. But you can turn your truck back to stock with only buying another lower plastic shield/air diverter.

I have no idea how you made that plastic shield fit...you must have cut out both sides? I got the control box mounted and the wires run...have the winch in between the frame horns....trying to play with adjustments now to get everything centered and level. next step cut wires to length and terminate and complete the wiring to the winch. the plus side the winch does look good installed

Yes. As I recall, both sides needed to have portions removed.
Your control box mounting looks great. I recommend testing the operation of winch once you have wiring connects complete. You don't want to put bumper and trim on then test.
Just run winch out a little and back in.

Actually that is a good point almost done with the wiring of the winch...will need to hook up a temp power cable as I'm waiting on a WARN solenoid from amazon that will hopefully show up today. will look further into that shield. once I have the bigger stuff done. the control box I ended up using the bracket that came with the winch mount... I just tweaked it up a bit to give me about 1/2" clearance on the turbo intake. Thanks again for the info!

Delayed response, but fwiw, I never reinstalled that lower plastic shield. Haven’t noticed any problems in a year of heavy use. I did save it in case I decide to remove the winch.

Typical, the cali raised relocater is a $30 part and it's $70 shipping to hawaii

Any luck with the control box mount either? I don't like the 589 one...
