Another update to this lovely thread.

As many already know, the Pathfinder has passed back in March(I'm still pissed about it). Since the. I got back into a Nissan Frontier Pro-4X(there are things I like about it over the Ranger. Sorry not sorry) a week later. Well the Trad was Transferred over and I did play with the GPS a bit.

So far I can say that I like the Tread Overland very well. I like it enough that I have ordered the external Antenna's for the GPS, InReach and the Group Ride(I found some peps and they said it's worth getting).

Now before I went to my folks place for Thanksgiving, Garmin was kind enough to release a Gian Update with the Maps and the System. I can't your the Maps too much, but I can say there was an update to the Tread Weather app. This particular update was something I was happy about and I thought I should share it as I feel it is a useful tool to say the least!

Now as I mentioned before the Tread Weather requires your Cellphone to have the Tread App and be connected via Bluetooth. This will give you the general Forecast for the Location you are in and give some more hourly stuff if you select the day you are on. It also has the Weather Radar for Rain and Snow. Well the recent add-on was the Conditions Radar. This will tell you a general area of where it is Wet, Snowy, Icy, Foggy and Very Windy. I found this out 2 weeks ago on my way down. It was real nice because it allowed me to make quick decisions on how I should adjust my trip.

Though I'm not quite at a year of having this GPS, I can comfortably say that it is certainly well worth the Money for those that will use it to it's full potential!!

Well coming up on a year of having the Tread Overland, I have another Addition to it. I have now added the Garmin Power Switch. Why the Garmin Power Switch? Because I had some Accessories to run power to and I did not want to run wires through the cab anymore than I had to.

Now keep in mind that you DO NOT have to get a Garmin GPS to run the Power Switch. It will connect to Android and Apple Devices with no problems. I believe others have confirmed already that you can use it with Android Auto as well. The only reason I have it connected to my GPS is due to the fact I don't have a Radio with silly Android Auto or Apple Car Play (and I like it that way).

For those that are not aware of how neat the Garmin Power Switch is, we shall go over it a little bit here. For starters once I had it paired to my GPS, it gave me the option to have a shortcut on the Drive Display. Of course I went with that option. You can see it on the RH side towards the bottom.

After clicking that it brings you into the Power Switch Menu. In reality it is a simple menu to operate. It even has the Voltage displayed with the Current Amp Load from any Accessories that are turned on at the time. Keep in mind that it will automatically shut off a. Accessory if it exceeds 30 Amps by itself and possibly turn all accessories off of it exceeds 100 Amps.

Notice the Amp Load change with the Driving Lights on.

Now editing each button so you know what is what is quite easy. Simply hit the Edit Button on the side and then hit the Edit symbol on the lower RH corner of each switch. That will take you to the Edit Menu for that switch. Here we have the Driving Lights. It first gives me the Name section the a Icon Window. There is enough Icons for many accessories to choose from. Of course there is the color you want it to be.

At the bottom you have the type of switch and the dimmer function. It also gives you two Trigger options. The Trigger options are simply a way to turn on said Accessory automatically without having to go into the menu to do so. For example I will be using a trigger for the High Beams to turn on the Driving Lights. Not sure if I will use another Trigger or not.

Now I have not seen how this looks on Android Auto or Apple Car Play, but I suspect it will be similar. Hopefully this will give you a better idea if you might want the Garmin Power Switch or not.
